First of all i want to clear IIT Engineers can not design coaches.they are freshers.every country spends money on research.we can not spend time on reinventing the wheel.Govt. is on the right rack.we should support them.tomorrow some one say why not replace airbus. This is practically not possible.World has now shrunk.exchange of services and materials can lead to economic growth.
Our engineers are totally incapable of producing any such trains in any near time. There is nothing wrong in importing a few trains in first batch and enter into tech transfer with spainish company in phases.Shame on our railways. It is high time we privatise railways or allow private operators to ply in competition just like what happened with BSNL,results are in front of all of us.
First of all, why do we need imported trains, when our scientist have capability to launch Made In India satellite or launch vehicles. There is no need to import. The govt. should get a team of engineers from IIT's and reputed private instution, given them a deadline, for designing a high speed train including coaches and engines. I am sure these guys will do it, if not then shut down the IIT's and other institutions. But the idea to import would also enable back door money for the persons involved in the deals. When our PM shouts and encourages us to be part of Make in India, why this train cannot be built by an Indian.???

Our engineers are quite capable. It is our political class, that has failed us. It is the railway ministers like Lalu, Mamta, Nitish etc who have failed us. Not to forget about the dynasty that started all this in name of coalition and appeasement.

Usual development of any new system takes about 10 years. To get to production. So instead of waiting we are jumpstarting. We can produce the rest on tech transfer basis.

Although we have plenty of manpower, talent, educated & capable technicians/engineers/scientists,yet our govts. continue to import heavy engineering goods like trains/coaches/aeroplanes/fighter planes etc...why??because this is the easiest way to make fat money without creating any doubt & suspicion in general public.
