How fair is over charging in the name of market liberalisation. do you support taxis to over charge customers... no here you are advocating overcharging in the name of surge pricing.... what hypocricy... and moreover these people charge for every minute you are sitting in taxi over and above the fare for distance.... why dont you allow the local taxis to do that...... regards
Overcharging is staling from general public. Why a poor man will give more fare? I think Nobel Laureates have to provide a new theory regarding this. Where were these Ola and Uber 2 years ago? Delhi was running without them and Delhi will run without them and the so called negative economic theory. I support Governments decision.

It is not Kejriwal's idea. Long back Singapore applied such rule and then abandoned it. So Kejriwal claiming credit for the idea is wrong.
What a baseless argument given by the writer to support this unholy practice to loot consumer.obviously govt have to take a call and regulate the market.last year Nobel prize given in economics on this theories where they show without proper regulations how the monopolist one or two company make a settlement between them and try to exploit market.
Surge Pricing basically means loot the customer while you can, take advantage of his need and helplessness. Taxi service is for convenience of population, not a means of fleecing the people. Same for airlines and the tatkal system of railways. All services should be priced on "cost plus" basis, give the service provider full recovery of his expenses, give him full profit and thats all. If the rate of Rs 10 per km gives him adequate profit where is the justification for Rs 20 per km??? This way they will manipulate the system to ensure that the public transport never improves, and they continue to loot the people. * Will anyone accept surge pricing concept in times of disaster ... that anyone who can pay more will get saved first, the others can wait ????? we are losing all our sense of propriety in the name of market economy.

Dont ride, who is forcing you. You want Driver to travel 10 Km free to pick you up ? Take those foul mouthed auto and taxi drivers. Why you ask for a raise in salary ; why you ask for more price if your product is in demand. Why you pay for branded medicines when generic same medicines are available at 10% of the price ???
For any product or service, the manufacturer decides a price and publishes it. If this price is revised upwards, just because the demand is more, it could be termed as black-marketing. Movie tickets, cars etc. all have waiting list at times but their price remains same. In case of flights too, government intervenes if the prices are overshot by the airlines to alarming levels. Lastly, there is no mechanism to know in case of taxi aggregators of what the real demand and supply gap actually is.
