I think at this time when there are too many services available providing cheaper hiring of cars and other vehicles, it is not a good idea to purchase a car. Purchasing a car invites many other liabilities like maintenance expenditure, parking problem and many other related problems. Car has become a status simbole only, not a facility.
A suggestion worthy of consideration by all. I would like to make one suggestion. Government can treat public transport including taxis and three wheelers to be provided with cheaper fuels and also exempting them from toll etc. This way the public transport services can be offered at more competitive rates. Many of us then likely to utilise taxis etc for more frequently. Unions and other interests may make a suggestion on these lines to the PMO and the Transport Ministry/Departments at the State levels.
