small railway stations

It would be good if the Indian Railways web site listed "Passenger" trains (that stop at all stations) or at least carried links to independent web sites that do list them. There are many stations that are served only by the "Passenger" trains and neither most of these stations nor the trains serving them are currently mentioned on the IR web site; you can only find out about them by going to a local station or from independent sources. How many people from distant parts of India or from abroad currently use other modes of transport because they do not know that they can reach their destination by train?

by KARAN on Sep 22, 2015 09:19 PM

Our railway stations are lot better than today and this effort was started during NDA regime
However the degacation in the toilet of a stationary train is still a very big technical issue needing some real innovative solutions

forget swanky stations concentrate on quality of service to passe
by daniel pani on Sep 22, 2015 07:25 PM

We we don't need swanky stations, we can do with reasonably clean stations. but quality of service is horrible in railways. let the railways concentrate on improving quality of services, i.e. punctuality of trains, control on TTIs who extort money from passengers, touts doing black marketing of tickets, parcel office babus asking for money to book/release consignments etc, the list is long. Food quality has also gone down. In the eighties we used to get square meals in the trains. Now a days veg biryani, chicken biryani, egg biryani or are available which are tasteless. Also one is faced with water shortage in the trains which is a traveler's nightmare. Railways should and must concentrate on these problems and above all ensure safety of passengers.
