Whoever is appointed or whatever juggad the govt applies, that basic fact of the matter is Govt has to let go control & privatise if this airline has to survive. There is no other short term solution.
whay beating around the bush?? you say 'challenges Lohani faces: an aging fleet, agitated pilots and huge losses.' you have left out the most important point.. 'Arrogant' work force. In a PSU it is very difficult to remove a person for non performance nor can you reward a hard working fool. Only answer seems to be privatising..
There are so many factors - usage of aircrafts for babus- high service benefits for workers- more staff to handle ground activities - can be listed n times. Government muddling with day to day running of carrier. The fact is our country men avoid flying in AIR INDIA because of indifferent attitude of running staff. Down all air crafts flying, lay off staff and shut the company under industrial disputes act. sell the aging fleets and start new after settling aging un-productive staff.
The only remedy is to sell Air India to Private Sector.Th blunder caused by congress Govt. is bleeding the country since last many decades. The Indian Tax payers money is being wasted.
