I as a common man rarely get pure food so we try to get organic food but sonetimes they are out of our financial limit.So if government support farmers like Devakanta and their initiatives both farmers as well as common man will be relieved.

Please make a beginning yourself. - If you are an URBAN DWELLER with limited space, you can commence with KITCHEN GARDEN & TERRACE GARDEN in your building - Chennai & Banglore cities are fast becoming KITCHEN/TERRACE GARDEN CITIES. - You can get AMRUT MITTI or PANCHGAVYA from nearby sources. Visit youtube for Subash Palekarji on ZERO BUDGET NATURAL FARMING. - If you are in a Colony & have enough compound space, you can start Organic Farming in the compound space. - KITCHEN GARDEN alone can take care of the daily vegetable requirements of your family. (Yes. It is 100% possible But it will take a year to fully practice with daily at least 1 hour labor) - TERRACE GARDEN can get the daily vegetable fruit requirements for your family. I would like to grow black rice in Maharashtra. Can you advise on how to obtain seeds? Most traditional varieties of seeds are no longer available, only the commercial varieties from the seed companies.

It is heartening to note that a farmer in Manipur has made efforts to conserve the bio-diversity of rice varieties. There is so much of genetic diversity in paddy that there is more than 50,00 germplasm collection in Internantional Rice Research Institute Manila. We should enccorage farmers growing local varieties with o fertilization. Once again congrats to the Framer. In Karnataka there are varieties which are red in colour and highly nutritious and tasty which is preferred by villagers. This variety is called Rtanachudi needs cultivation.
Using natural bio manure has been in practice since centuries. These are the modern scientists who have forced use of chemicals as fertilizers simply copying the WEST. Even they have genetically modified so many agri products so much so that many of the varieties of natural produce have dis appeared frm earth. Natural produces are suiting to the climatic requirements to keep the consumer healthy. Shri Devakantas' efforts are appreciable and Govt must support him and other likewise farmers.
