If this magnitude of budget can be considered for Indian's well being, why so much noise for implementation of `one rank one pension' for warriors, who gave their youth to the motherland ? Finance Ministry & Defence Ministry decision makers clearly confused of misplaced priority?
The bullet train is nonsense. The government does not have money to build. I it is done on PPP the investor needs returns. Then how much will the tickets cost. In Europe trains cost more than air. The Chinese subsidize the trains in that the traveller pays only running cost. Here we do not have a business model. Instead spend money on the existing network. There is really no train between Mumbai and Delhi as it is practically impossible to get tickets say ten days in advance. The possibility is a train every 15 minutes. The requirement only better signaling and sufficient rolling stock.
Instead of this kind of vast expenditure on bullet trains better give subsidy from the interest on this amount) to ailing airlines to run low cost aeroplanes.Govt can consult Capt Gopinath in this regard
