Improvement on ground
by lahiri alokesh on May 25, 2015 06:28 PM

In paper there have been quite a few initiatives which has been taken by Railway Minister. But, none of the initiatives have resulted in changing anything on ground. We lay 620 km of Railway line wheraeas china can lay more than 100 km of Raiway line in a year.If we look at the raiway passenger traffic, it will require at least 10000 km of railway lines in various forms to cater the present need. At the present rate, this will take around 20 years. The signalling system is old and requirs total overhaul.Leave aside the budget issue, only implementation of this job will take about 6-7 years. What the successive governments are doing is only to increase the number of trains without any concerted plan for imcreasing the number of Raiway lines. It is like falling into a jam by increasing number of cars when the roads remain same. The quality of service is better not to be mentioned. We must take lessons from the European railway network which apart from quality service maintains accurate time.On the whole public do not see anything in Railway change over the past one year.

Rly is life line. We were 35 crore in 1950, now 125 crore, railway requires 4 lanes instead of 2 or 1. It must be on priority instead of Bullet train etc.,besides many other upgradation.
