Court direct FIR against Amitabh and others
by Pradip Shah on Jun 03, 2015 09:27 AM

This Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan and madhuri Dikshit etc are only interested in making huge money by endorsing any products without going into the merit and qualities of the said products. The people and specifically children buy this harmful products due to advertisement with such brand ambassadors. To avoid any responsibilities and paying any legal expenses, this stars put a clause in their contract and pass it on to the manufacturers. Nestle is a multinational company and must have strict quality control standard and it is mandatory for them to mention the contents of their food items. Have they mention anything about percentage of lead in their noodles ? Last night I saw Debate show of Arnab Goswamy on Time Now where Ashok Pandit was putting futile effort with his illogical defence for his film industries pals. He was so aggressive without any reasons and I feel if he has shown the same aggression for his fellow pandit brothers who are driven out from Kashmir valley years back, he could have achieved something by now. The government should prosecute Amitabh, Madhuri, and Preeiti Zinta and should force them to consume the same Maggie noodles for which they endorse with the high contents of lead in it and pay the price for their ignorance which has caused worries for lacs of consumers of Maggie noodles in the country.

Actors are used as brands
by Suchandra Dey on Jun 02, 2015 04:19 PM

Actors are made into brands by the Ad agencies who exploit the sentiments of common people by creating such misleading advertisements using the image of these film stars, thereby earning crores of rupees for their clients. In the market we find fairness creams claiming that one can become fair by using their products, but we all know that the melanin content in our skin gives colour to our skin and the negroid race are all black due to this,if their products can make black people white then there will not be any black person on this earth. The government should act strictly against such Ad agencies who create such false and misleading advertisements and the film stars should use their common sense and should not fall into the trap of these Ad agencies who lure them with money.

Even ad agencies are responsible
by brian crasto on Jun 02, 2015 03:42 PM  | Hide replies

Ad agencies and brand ambassadors make in crores without verifying the facts of a product whether it is harmful or not. They are only interested in making money. After we are dalals where quality does not matter but money does. Abroad actors hardly endorse products unless they are legally compliant

You mean to say they should have got the product verified for lead and MSG levels? Nonsense.

Once you endorse any products for huge monetary consideration and people buy the same due to their image and appeal, they should very well prepared to face the legal action if the products dont meet the approved standards.

This is ridiculous.
by Vijay Sahani on Jun 02, 2015 03:38 PM  | Hide replies

To hold brand ambassadors responsible for any oversight by the company is preposterous. If they are responsible then the FDA (who approved it in the first place) should also be held responsible. The kirana shop and the super markets which sold it should also be held responsible. All the employees right from the MD to the salesman should also be held responsible. Ridiculous!

When i first read that Madhuri Dixit was sent a notice i thought this must be s joke. But it seems that we Indians just do not know where to draw the line.

When the FDA approves a product for human consumption, every citizen rightly presumes that due diligence has been done and hence the product can be promoted, sold and bought freely for that purpose. The primary responsibility of the failure of due diligence is that of the FDA (a govt. body). Instead, we are trying to shift that onus to the brand ambassadors. Preposterous!

These poor actors are not food scientists. They go by the company's reputation and the product's popularity.
How can they be aware of the product chemical contents, something that even our FDA was unaware of for last 25 years since launch of Maggi ?

Typical example of venting one's anger on the nearest available scapegoat.

That way, why not arrest the entire Indian Test team, since they are sponsored by Sahara , whose boss is in Tihar ?

Dont just expose your intelligence and lack of knowledge of laws by using the word nonsense and ridiculous etc. The court has already given permission to file FIR against Amitabh, Madhuri and Preity Zinta. Is Nestle is not required to maintain a strict quality standard and are required to mention the contents of their food items ? Why you defend any actions against the company who mint money at the cost of health of their consumers and the bollywood stars who endorse the product only against huge monetary consideration without their moral or legal responsibilities ?

Brand Endorsement
by Naveen Kumar on Jun 02, 2015 03:12 PM

When some one endorse the brand they go with all the papers related to the product and its specs and if they find quality then they promote. Now if in between some thing happens in factory which gets mixed or some compositions blend more for final product which is not good, then its mistake of employers rather than third party marketers.

Maggi promotion
by Inder Kapoor on Jun 02, 2015 03:08 PM  | Hide replies

what logic in filling FIR against the film stars who promoted the product.By same yard stick all actors, production team, advertising agency, TV channels, Cinema Halls, Print Media who advertise the products and most importantly the law enforcing departments who let these products run for years and the Governments which collected revenue for these products are equally liable for action.
Tomorrow by same logic actors will be held responsible for all the sins committed in society if the same is shown on TV / Cinema.
Have some sense before becoming Activists.
To me this is a means to harass and extract benefits from Rich and Famous..SHAME.

Dear fellow readers, have some sense. do you know the amount of money taken by these stars to promote the product? Actual price of Maggie will be below Rs.2 and we pay more than Rs.10 and the extra money goes to these starts. My son wants to drink only Boost bcoz, he sees famous cricketer and assuming that one day he will also become such a super start by drinking Boost, similarly Pepsi, why not these stars promote our Indian drinks like Nimbu pani, or Tender coconut...
