The 10 biggest policy mistakes of the past
by Mukundan Menon on Sep 06, 2015 02:38 PM

Surprising that these so called bureaucrats has audacity to say difficulties and even naming it in serially. When they had the power why nothing was done to stabilize those things. How come suddenly now have the authority to comment upon. All hypocrites including the author himself. All these days he had not even guts to express his opinions and now they boast of an opinion.

The 10 biggest policy mistakes of the past - Nationalised banks
by cm dhingra on Jul 25, 2015 01:36 PM

I will only take the case of - Nationalization of Banks. By using good English and difficult words like "bureaucratic cultures, widespread behest lending, pervasive inefficiency and frequent need for budgetary recapitalisation",you cannot belittle the big gains. The best example is Online Payment of Salaries and Pensions of Armed Forces & Govt.Employees in the remotest areas like villages of country on the First of every month.Liberal Policies of Cheaper Loans to Farmers are given by PSU Banks and not by Private Banks owned by Industrial Houses.Today, PSU Banks provide all Banking facilities to poorest of poor in the remotest areas which itself is a great achievement of Nationalisation of banks.

Privy Purses
by R K on Jul 12, 2015 01:00 PM

We stopped paying meager amounts of Privy Purses to Ex-Rajas of Indian States. Now we are paying hefty pensions and other benefits/privileges to MPs/MLAs/MLCs for life. This is heavy and continuous burden on the nation. This should be stopped. Let these people go back to their respective employment/business after serving their tenures....

Some points :To note please
by mosarraf hossain on Jul 12, 2015 12:42 PM

Point wise reply:-
1.subsidies on electricity etc to farmers:Made India self sufficient in food.Food grain cheaper but farmers are not benefited,it is the traders who benefited most.India as a country also benefited.2.Bank Nationalisation:put Indian village in the village network. It is not the farmers who looted the Bank but the Industrialized who looted and became defaulters.PVt sector banks are only interested in lucrative location.Do you want to uncover bank cover from vilaages.3.Labour laws:India governance system is a democracatic one and it must be rational towards its emplyees in its dealings. It can not and should not be like china but it need reform.4.Urban governance:Municiplatity, state government and central government are trying to do the same thing leading to clash of interest and wastage of money and time.It need to be done away with.Too many ways to feed the political party. 5.Adminstrative set up is ok but polical pressure are immense and it is mostly so when coalition government are in place.A lot of pull and push.6.Government are doing its bit but no of people dependent on it far exceeds than the estimate.Private players are only playing with creams.A change in attitude is needed and private players must do its business to cover all areas.7.Land aquisition from farmers are easy not difficult leading to farmers being destitute but once land is in hand of the Industrialists,it is in their hand even if they do not make one ,thus defaulting both the lenders(PSB).

Reservations
by R K on Jul 12, 2015 12:42 PM

Religion/caste/Region based reservations are also major hold ups and are dividing the country in unpleasant way. Let there be only two categories. First people above poverty line and second people below poverty line for reservation. Reservation for only one child per parents at the first levels of professional studies and first employment should be adopted.
