Perhaps the cost of running the trains has increased 3 times which is passed over to Public. You are only looking at the fares because that is all you see, but what you don't see and realise is that over heads can increase as well. Steel prices has gone up, labour costs up, Overhead such as electric and other equipment, gone up in price Diesel gone up and much more . Some one has to pay for all that from some where and that is revenue from fares.

Yes. I agree. But you are assumed that these overheads cannot be accommodated by efficiency gains. This is the accepted practice across transportation industry. Nothing hitech. Railways is hardly the pinnacle of efficiency!

You have not included the pension payable to the retired rly employees. I am a daily wage earner and my railway fare includes such pension payment. In fact I am compelled to pay for such worthless expenditures.

If you are unable to pay the little increased price of railway fare (for the betterment of railway itself), better go by bullock cart like your ancistrals...

Where were you when the previous regime forced ICF and RCF to hand over the complete design details of EMU trains to private companies and gave the contract to build EMUs only to private players. This resulted in under utilisation of ICF & RCF, Despite the unions protesting this, nothing happened..
Good going under an able leadership. Fulfilling the global need to lower green house gas emission and hardship of our natives. 10 out of 10 to our railway engineers and the able leadership.

I agree to what Antony Thomas has commented. Its going to be a good begining between India & US. Let us be positive. Developments are ought to take place gradually and hardly likely instatly, for Rome was not built in a day.
See how fast within 7 months in power BJP Minister flagged off the CNG Train? Remarkable achievement. The previous government has not done anything - this is what development - you should know how to claim advantage of others hard work.

Absolutely right -they have not done anything - See Modiji witnessed and was with the Manglyan team appreciating their succes - Vajpayiji pressed the button at Pokhran for Indias atomic success - Kundankulam - BJP has implemented the project - everything is done under the dynamic leadership.

The report says the train will consume "over 20%" CNG. This implies that the system works by adding CNG to the air inducted by the engine when it is working under heavy load and reducing the amount of diesel fuel injected by a corresponding amount. This arrangement can be quite simple to install because it is not necessary to provide spark ignition (as is done on a CNG bus, which runs on CNG alone) or any equipment to inject gas directly into the cylinders. However an engine modified in this way must always be using some diesel fuel since this is what provides the ignition. A CNG/air mixture alone will not ignite reliably and controllably from the heat of compression.
