Tackling Quackery
by Raman Arora on Apr 06, 2015 06:44 PM

The National Health Policy is silent on tackling quackery, including use of allopathic way of treatment by BAMS/GAMS. It is also silent on employment of BAMS/GAMS in Allopathic Charitable Dispensaries managed by NGOs.

To help with the doctors shortage, govt could start by mandating all new doctors, as part of their internship requiremnts, are required to work at least two years in govt-run health-care clinics prior to getting their license to practise medicine. Ditto for registered nurses and nurse practiioners.

But staffing aside, how do you ensure that medical personnel actually comes to work...regularly and on time, and then actually does their jobs in a professional manner??

Worse, everyone knows of the lackadazical, unprofessional, chalta hai attitude so prevelant here...how do you ensure a high quality of care??

Your recommendations are the best I have heard in this regard. The damage done by the Congress party for the last 50 to 70 years can easily be repaired.

Pay scales and facilities will be revised by the new government. This is not the Congress style administration that caters only to vote banks.
