AI and Human
by Prabhakar Waghodekar on Dec 15, 2015 02:19 PM  | Hide replies

AI is no doubt a key agent for change. Automation, man-less factory, smart homes, etc. are the outcomes of AI. AI can be used for mass well-fare and well-being too. But AI has limitations. AI is the offspring of human brain. It cannot surpass human brain like a student cannot surpass his teacher. Use of AI is fully dependent upon the human brain, and sometimes can be used for disaster just to meet one's ill desires. To control human brain is more important than AI. AI is just a tool monitored by Human, that we need not forget. AI certainly is a backbone for human change but it is not the heart of matter. Be after Heart rather than only after Backbone.

Prabhakar AI will be used to fund the greedy and it will surpass the human brain easily. The system can learn a million times by trial error something which humans can't do and then one fine day a kid in garage will change one thing and the human savior AI will turn into disaster.

Thanks Prabhakar for a balanced view! I find lot of hoopla on AI and connectivity in general. There are two aspects that worry me and does not augur well for the future:
1. Misuse of AI (already articulated by Prabhakar and Abhijeet)

2. Elimination of all physical work from our daily activities at home and office would make humans more unhealthy and hedonistic!

Let's wait and watch! Anything in moderation is good!

The third problem is obviously with automation, it will eliminate thousands of jobs which could be done by humans. It could have a devastating impact in developing economies which largely depend on these jobs. Most developed economies have already outsourced these jobs and they will probably benefit by getting these jobs done by robots as they are more accurate and cheaper but countries like China, India, Indonesia, Mexico could feel the heat.
