RDSO collaborating with the Japan Railways on bullet trains is a joke.Our guys have not managed to exceed 140 kmph for the last 60 years. What sort of inputs can they give other than details of the routes and terrain ? Hope the local manufacture of bullet trains really comes off, and this is not one of the tall BJP claims.
I filled one TDR on 11-Oct-2014 through IRCTC website having PNR Number: 4365324698. It is 14 months past But till now I am not getting money back. I fill a RTI against it, still no action taken. both IRCTC and Indian railway are silent.
Mr. Prabhu, unlike his predecessors,has understood the problem and moving in the right direction.The core issue is the Asset Liability mismatch.He needs time and support from the PMO and the FM.In a nutshell, all railway land should be mapped and monetized. Doubling,tripling of tracks along with renewal and electrification will have to be fast tracked. Japan Rail can both fund and provide technology in modernization.Railway may generate solar power and provide seamless travel facilities and accommodation to foreign tourists. Hope Mr. Prabhu gets enough time to push through the hurdles.
There is not a convenient place to pee at railway stations.If any of you have recently visited the railways urinal, you can very well say what is priority for railways- is it public facilities at stations and rails or fancy projects like bullet trains?
We had Lal Bhadur Shashriji as (RM) Railway Minister who resigned as an accident took place, unique example in Indian History. We had Lalu Prasadji as RM, who in the history of railways showed surplus budget, called as management Guru, invited by IIM, Ahmedabad, now Prabhuji. First time during the last 67 yrs the Govt. of opposition came in power with thumping majority. Railway has always a deficit budget (save Lalu's) due to corruption, overburden of pay and pension (7th Pay Commission now coming). Prabhu's task is herculean. But the Govt. is blocked not to work, all efforts are made to over turn it. bullet train can certainly help grow our economy. Generate more money, distribute equitably is a better policy than allowing some to corruption, mis-management, conservative approach termed as (psuedo) socialism. Let the Govt. work, let the Prabhu function!
Best of luck. In the mean time it is painful to see people travel on roof tops in few of the segments in the country disregarding the safety issues etc. Such glaring handicaps in the operations is masking innumerable other shortcomings and poor service level in the overall functioning of the railways something not really critical! The service level in general has improved, but there is room for far more improvements.
Now a 5 years old child have to give full price for birth rather than half..time not far away when even 1 months old baby would also be charged fully tickets...thanks suresh prabhu..bhartiya jumla party is giving achchey din...
