Mrs Anrundhati Bhattacharya needs to be saluted. Several women bankers have so wonderfully distinguished themselves that it is probably difficult to name one lady banker who has NOT done well ... beginning with Mrs Ranjana Kumari, who turned around Indian Bank ... more salutes to women power!

To my memory, the first woman banker who distinguished herself was Mrs T Vakil of Exim Bank, followed by Mrs L Gupte, former MD of ICICI ... each one of them has left such empowered organizations that one cannot but admire them. And just when Mr M Gopalakrishnan had done his bit to destroy Indian Bank, came Mrs Ranjana Kumari ... and left behind a very healthy, vibrant Indian Bank.
Why is the govt waiving loans of farmers when they commit suicide. It is because of the government's own inability to handle the situation. If any individual takes a home loan & is unable to repay for 3 months it is termed as NPA. Notices are issued & suitable actions are taken. The inflation, business slowdown & corruption factor are never considered. Just like Mr. Damodaran Mohan mentioned the case of Vijay Mallya nothing will happen to him & honest people will be pressured to repay immediately. As mentioned in Ram Charit Manas, "Samrath ko nahi dosh Gosai". Individuals taking home loan want to make payments but restructuring is done in only some cases. We read only the figures what you provide and believe it just for the sake of believing it. And I would like to mention that this very bank was mentioning before the arrival of private banks that "They do not want any more customers to open accounts". Now the trend is reverse.
It is mainly due to the loans to the corporate borrowers who have nexus with the politicians One need not wonder if this is analysed properly the corporates are dictating to banks to get loans except of course private sector banks SBI cannot wash off its hands in this connection. Further the compensation package in the SBI and other PSBs are negligible when compared to other New gen private sector Banks and the enthusiasm to work will get diminished-Now that the new recruits are in seats and are unable to cope with the workload
Why NPA is double then private bank ICICI Bank etc must have some valid reason. SBI still NPA is double then private bank showing inefficiency of the SBI Bank in recovering the NPA.
I have no hesitancy in making the statement that quality of service as poor as it was earlier.e.g: I wanted to transfer PPF Account from SBI. Shimpoli Branch to SBI, Mantapeshar road ,Borivali Branch as it is close muy residence. I submitted the application for transfer in the month of july-14. I was informed it was transferred on the day of application. SBI, Mantapeshar confirmed that the received all the necessary documents & would issue a computerized pass book in 3/4 days. Though the pass book was ready, the data was not complete till to-day.The excuse given was given the computer system was not designed to take nominee names. This issue is still pending since a year. The staff at that branch are arrogant to the costumers & the mind set of old days not changed since the that era staff are still in the service.
Out of the main subject. I have received 50 page Cheque book without any request, twice. Please give instruction that no Cheque book be send without request. also, study capacity of a account holder. If you are sending Cheque Book to new accounts under "Pradhanmantri Jandhan Yojna" having balance only Rs. 500; what he will do with cheque book? Total waste of stationery, ink, postage expenditure. This is serious matter.Kindly do needful.

@ Suresh! I should say that it depends on the branch, probably and the Manager of that branch. I have visited quite a few SBI branches which are beehives of activity and highly service oriented. For example, Mandaveli Branch of SBI at Chennai
Much ado about nothing. The claim of so called reduction of NPAs is nothing but accounting jugglery.Madam, if you writ of 100 % NPAs your NPA gets reduced to zero. What has been done appears to be to hide NPAs through partly write off bad loans and partly restructure them under the 5/25 scheme shifting out those bad loans from NPAs to bring down the absolute figure of NPAs.The above column admits to "The key concern for SBI is slippages from restructured advances. Stressed asset ratio (gross NPA plus restructured advances) is at a high of 8.55 per cent. How much of those slips into NPA is to be seen, as that will also depend on how quickly the economy turns around. The mid-corporate segment still contributes more than 10 per cent NPA to advances given to them". So given this background why this chest thumping for achieving nothing or very little ? As long as 'crony capitalism' thrives NPAS will only rise because of the corrupt 'Politician-babu-banker' nexus doling out dubious Loans against forged documents etc. w/o adequate due diligence. Madam can you tell us why Vijaya Mallaya's KFA which owes over 7K Cr to PSU Bank consortium has not been declared 'wilful defaulter' yet by SBI although couple of sister banks have done it ?And how much of his ‘collataral ‘ has been really attached or money recoverd or really recoverable against his liabilities? Finally why is roaming free and getting away?
