It seems like Google is going Microsoft Way where Microsoft handles all the technology related stuff and Bing is the dedicated search engine by Microsoft.
Similarly, Google does not want to be seen as a search engine alone and want to project itself as a company dedicated to technology and various other sectors under the name of Alphabet.
