Next move of operators should be if vice mail is used for settling a business deal, they must get a commission of 20% of it.
If SMSs between girl and boy leads to their mariage, they shuld get a cut in it.
When they are being paid for data transfer, what business they have to obstruct, regulate or restrict such date transfer be it through skype, what's aa or viber.
Data transfer through skype, what's app or other OTTs, do not require operator any extra expenses or effort, for which he mayst be paid extra money.
Oppose this move, TRAI is finding arguments to justify operator demand like security etc. The answer is to apprise the people of such OTTs and not to charge the consumer for using such OTTs

Telecom Dictate

The free advice to people has become a laughing with the government. The present govt. has nothing to do in hand, the Prime Minister seems to on tour on all most all the days right from his elected date to till date. This telecom companies are trying to make money by charges the consumers for using the Internet. First of all the govt should terminate all the licenses issued to the service providers like Airtel, Idea, Reliance, Vodafone, Aircell etc. Let the internet be provided by the Govt to all the citizens of this country for free. The service providers are already making huge profits and they do not pay the tax. All the taxes the service providers pays is from the tax collected from the consumer. The other day I have watched a live debate on charging the end users for the net access, one person from NASSCOM defends the charges as if he is the person who has a right to charge for the service provided by him. The service providers are making a lot of profits on the existing environment and why they want to change the atmosphere now.

If they have paid so much for spectrum, they will naturally sqeeze the customer.

So it is win win for government as they got a hefty amount and bad and very bad for consumers as we will not have the flexibility that we enjoyed so far.

No dear, service providers like Airtel, vodafone, idea pay hefty price for the spectrum for providing services like voice, SMS and data. What Skype, Whats'up etc are doing is providing these services free of cost using the services provided by the service providers like airtel. Note that you can international calls using skype and international SMS "free of cost" and service providers get data usage cost only for the same.
To be fair, OTT services need to bid for spectrum purchase.

But didn\'t Vodafone, Airtel did the same thing to Indian Post? When Mobiles and SMS became the norm, people simply stopped writing letters. Did Airtel pay any money to Indian Post for the revenue loss? After all, GOI spent billions to set up post offices in even the remotest corners of the country! My point is, telcos should try to innovate and not stifle innovation. They are crying hoarse over lost revenue of SMS and calls but they are not publicizing how much additional money they are making through net packs. People need more and more bandwidth every day and telcos are set to earn more due to data used for HD video, video calls and downloading of huge files. My telco should leave me alone when I have paid for my net pack and not try to influence what I do on the internet.

The last sentence of Ram Suresh is the punch. This position is to be accepted. TRAI! be sensible.
You are Regulatory Authority and not Revenue Authority for the Telcos.

How to use the internet that should leave on the customers or users. So, the impact of internet usage is also depends on them. But that should not be controlled by Telecom operators. Otherwise they will start looting the customers.
