Mr. Sridhar Rao statement has sense. Why Military want to go for foreign arms ? Simple answer is that value system of this nation has eroded to the extent that even in defence matters, officials in charge looks for kick backs which foreign players are giving free hand to gain contracts.. This is rampant and rife in all departments in this country but ironically in defence industry it is on very high scale.
This country is fortunate of having a nationalist PM in form of Narendra Modi and i wish he gets more and more chance to clean the dirty system..

We have got infrastructure to build the latest weapons. Govt must coodinate with armed forces and reputed manufacturers and ensure all weapons are manufactured here . DRDO and ISRO should render all help to private manufacturers and OFB for developing the required weapons at cheap rates to those available from foreign manufacturers.

Our system of deciding the procurement is too long ang and tedious. There must a time frame for such decisions
The persons laying down impossible quality control norms for the indigenous manufacturers must be the co-followers of notorious arms dealer Adnan Khashogi. These people are grown accustomed as commission agents since Independence and they will sabotage any move from nationalist politician to Indianize the arms manufg sector at any cost. These people should be identified, isolated and dealt with iron hand.
This situation will be seen by all other govt. related agencies too including PSU. Everyone wants to run to foreign and mint commission with over billing. Private sector also does not lag behind.
