So must India continue to forever live in villages?
by Jagdish Dubey on Apr 12, 2015 03:45 AM

Grievances against land grab and misuse are valid. Like Damadji people in hurry and power will like to buy low and sell high. But the solution is to stop Damadji from doing this and if done, to pay for the same with interest. Build strong safeguards in LARR act to ensure that the land acquired by government is not diverted to private parties for resale or diversion. Losers of land and livelihood must also be fully compensated in terms of livelihood and long term property. If a family is entitled to a compensation of Rs. 10 lakhs for loss of livelihood and residence, the payment should be in terms of longest tenure- ( 20 years if possible)fixed deposits of PSU banks carrying maximum floating rate of interest. So while the amount remains intact the family gets Rs.7500 per month. Then there is the job guarantee and food security. No cash or bonds. Better form companies with 50% shares with the government and the rest with the losers as well as the gainers. Thus losers too become shareholders in and profit from development.
We have managed so far to increase area under non agricultural uses as well as under agriculture and forests. But building infrastructure requires contiguity. Thus all lands falling on the line for railways or roads or industrial corridors must be acquired. You just can't leave the village lands falling on the way and develop only the non agricultural. This cannot be left to the vagaries of consensus or consent of 70-80% in each of the thousands of villages.

is not aware of reality, you can not fool farmers by provoking them sentimentally. they too need the comforts you enjoy in cities , then why should they be denied ?

Bhushan is ignorant of ground realities that is why he is abusing Modi, by using cheap language.
It is disgraceful for him and to them for whom he is working.

Obstructionists of Development
by kumar kn on Apr 08, 2015 04:25 PM  | Hide replies

The Opposition parties, vested interests activists and the usual psuedosecularists are bent upon giving Modi a bad name and hanging him. They want to obstruct all of Modi's development so that when the next elections come they can accuse him of not having done anything worthwhile.

Now who has done a survey amongst the farmers to gauge their mood? Nobody. But still these fellows say that rural India is against Modi. Who told them except some vested interests? Wasn't Bengal loss Gujarat's gain in the Nano Project of the Tatas. The Bengal farmers are now cursing their own Govt led by Mamata.

If today, farmers will get 4 times their land's market value which farmer will not sell his land? If someone gives me 4 times the market value I am ready to sell my house! In all developed countries all sections come together for the development of their country. Unfortunately not in India.

Wrong perception. Most people who have lost land to big projects, had their money 'used up or consumed' in very short span of time and then becoming landless and income less.

What alternative work will be provided to farmers who give up land and to others who too are dependent will ultimately decide the effectiveness of the land ordinance.

Wat ever the accussations, The govt has to be very careful to be seen as agents of corporates like reliance, who are only concerned about their bottomlines and interests.

Genuine solutions that will take care of the problems aftermath the giving up land should be addressed otherwise no farmer will be ready to give his land

Why they should be angry, they all have elected him only. We are democrats, of course for vote bank gains-opposition always played a dirty game of spreading hate, which they are now doing it for ruling party. Our system permits such hate spreading.
Election cannot be held after each 6 months.
