Good Initiatiative
by M A on Oct 27, 2014 01:10 PM

It is a very good initiative taken by the Head of Government itself to clean up India. Each and every citizen, Corporates, Panchayat, Municipality, Municipal Corporations etc. should involve in this project and make it a grant success. Government should introduce reward scheme for Civic Bodies who maintain total cleaness.

CSR funds for Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan
by GAN on Oct 27, 2014 10:39 AM

A request to the Prime Minister or whoever is in charge of the schemes. Let selfless leaders like Abdul Kalam, Raj Mohan Gandhi, LK Advani, Yashwant Sinha, Jaswant Singh, Sunita Narain, Medha Patkar, Irom Sharmila, TN Seshan, TS Krishnamurthy, Justice Lodha, GK Vasan, Seshadri Chari, S Gurumurthy, Cho Ramaswamy, Nandan Nilekani, Azim Premji, Venu Srinivasan, Rahul Bajaj, Narayanamurthy, KV Kamath and so many others whose interest lies only in promotion of public welfare head and direct these missions subject to CAG's audit. Each of them can be given the status of a cabint/MOS with adequate staff on deputation from the government departments as well as from the private sector to translate promises/dreams into reality. There are lakhs of incorruptible officers, judges, academics, writers, ordinary citizens now retired who can contribute a lot to the success of this missions. Leaving this to untrained, and most often uneducated politicians, abetted by a corrupt bureaucracy will result in only more 'Ghotaalaas'

Another Million Lost
by syed ali on Oct 27, 2014 09:51 AM

This is how another billion rupees are surely going to the drains without proper accountability from any quarter. There are sweepers deployed by municipality (it could be verified in your district level municipality office) in every mohalla but they never do their duties instead always cry for salary raise and are there to collect their salaries at the month end. The proper way is to make people accountable.
In our country even the politicians who are holding important positions of national economics, security and development are them selves not accountable for it, then how could we expect other Indians to be same. These funds will vanish into the pockets or for political purposes as the proof of showing these works can easily be tempered with.

CRS ambit
by Bodh Ramdeo on Oct 26, 2014 09:49 PM

Fact is, nothing works in this backward, poverty-stricken, underdeveloped land of filth and squalor...
The masses have no concept of civic duty..seven decades of Khangriss' Stalinist policies have left them totally dependent on govt to do everyhting for them...
Teachers do not show up work months on end...
Sanitation workers do not clean anything...
Corrupt Babus who go AWOL with impunity, caring about hafta only....
Corrupt Cops who only know how to shake down the hapless aam aadmi..
The idiot-masses behaving like wild animals, littering, crapping, spitting, leaking anywhere and everywhere...
It will require a total mindset change in the aam aadmi...a total makeover in order to effect change for the better...otherwise, it will be more of the same ole chalta hai...despite govts best efforts.

Clean India....
by msubramanian tdr on Oct 26, 2014 09:45 PM

The Govt has created enough awareness with regard to Clean India. Kudos. Govt can now concentrate on " Clean....Political system " by appointing special courts to try sitting MPs / MLAs against whom criminal cases are pending.

CSR IS NEITHER CHARITY NOR DOING WHAT GOVT IS SUPPOSED TO DO
by Kabeer on Oct 26, 2014 07:24 PM

CSR is not understood in India.

CSR is neither charity nor doing what Govt is supposed to do with with the taxes that it collects from individual taxes and corporate taxes.

A Company is an organisation created for a commercial activity and not charity; it pays taxes to the Govt and those taxes are for what the Govt is supposed to do.

When a Company starts doing what a Govt is supposed to do it gains an authority on those matters and that should not be allowed.

CSR is what a Company can legally allowed to do but still does in a different way so that the society at large benefits.

For example, a Company may choose to pay high electricity bills or use high quantum of water by using to light up all its offices and use high quantum of water and pay for it too; but if the same company chooses to make use of natural light and conserves water thereby not consuming the natural resources so that the public at large has enough to use.

Similarly, a Company can hire either only men, or abled persons, or from a single region or religion, or community.

But if the same company hires physically disabled persons, or hires both genders in equal propositions or hires people from all languages or all religions or all regions it is doing a CSR without harming shareholder interests.

SImilarly, either a Company can go to IIMs and IITs which are Govt sponsored with public money or it can start its own educational institutions with its own sources and absorb the passed out students & creat
