The International Poverty Line of USD 1.25 is a Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) measure which translates to about Rs.25. Rs.76 is converting USD at the market exchange rate of Rs.61 to a US Dollar.
if so many poor are living in india why political parties and Mr PM does not do something to control the population which is growing in uncontrolled manner.

Actually a Genuine Study Say Hindustan Population(Indian)Population is not Growing, Those those Infrators those coming from Bangladesh, Pakistan are Growing, & the Muzlim Population here are taking medicine to Produce Twins to Grow there Population This is the Fact Actually Hind00s are Declining
most of the people life survives with agriculture and nature. so the income of the less the 1.25$ or more then 1.25$ has no effect because there are no role of money in the life of these people.
India it seems have done slightly better than these African nations ( apx 68% under international poverty line). Hence India if not amongst the poorest, but surely among very very poor. This is in spite of the fact that India inherited perhaps the most developed foundation of an administration , an easy access to independence without a nationwide civil war and a strong base for a consistent democracy from its erstwhile British rule at least in the yardstick of a colony which no other colonial rule anywhere in the world, least so in Africa have been so gifting. Bangladesh, Haiti or Burundi have their justification for poverty, but does India have it?

India cannot be equated with small small countries shown above, it is shame for us that we have such large population of poor, we got independence in 1947, majority of money is spent on poor, reason behind is only no population control on unwanted poor children, rather politicians have used them as vote bank.

I dont agree on ur comment"majority of money is spent on poor", if that is the case then there should not be any poor, the division between poor and rich are constantly increasing because of unequal distribution of assets among people.QUICK solution is:Make rule to for equal distribution of assets( whosoever hold that) coupled with population control.
See ..our leaders have eliminated poverty and all our people are above Dollar 1.25 earnings per day...it is really gr8!!!(By the way we have recollect the poverty figure projected by Indian govt & also the % of people in india below it...i think india is below the first rank in the countires listed it seems...not even in the scale)
We have a huge population, and majority of India is poor, none of the govt. is dare enough to implement total population control of these poor due to votes, they eat everything from the tax payers pocket and development lags behind.
