The government should first ban all pan and tobacco items, which makes our cities dirt, as people spit mindlessly everywhere, no botheration of creating nuisance in public!
If Indians mindset is changed then india can be cleanest nation in the world in just one month. But it need the contribution of every citizen for this..If everyone contribute then see the change around..every citizen irrespect of any status must keep the nation, houses, roads, cities, areas, streets etc clean....learn this hobby from west and not by wearing and jeans or modern cloths only one can be modern..PM asking the nation then people are doing this.its the common sense or civic sense or moral duty.

Also you forgot to mention, people needs to keep themselves clean and hygiene and smelling good from their mouth or body as well in india...
Hyderabad is definitely on the list, although it is slowly recoving back to its 2004 image. The last 10 years of utter neglect and apathy has turned this city into a garbage bin.
A decade ago, i had to search for pot-holes on the road, its the otherway round now. I have to search for the road amongst the potholes. Although of late the new govt is doing a decent job of mending it..still lots need to be done to bring it back to where it was a decade ago and then move further.

Ofcourse, i have not touched the other aspects of being "clean"...hyderabad has definitely lost a lot of green cover, but other patches of green have sprung up. however the loss can only be compensated, if replantation is done atleast 5-10 fold. people litter everywhere now. there is no sense of cleanliness among the denizens of this city. no proper landfill areas have been identified and so with an ever growing circumference, the road-sides are conveniently becoming garbage dumping areas. shame.

My friend the air in Delhi is so polluted that many people living in this metro are having lung problem. There is no use in just cleaning the streets. Check the stations and the other public places. Lots of them are just very dirty and untidy. Talking about Tiruchi city, have you aver visited Gandhi market in this city or other parts of the main populated area. There is lot of dirt lying around here. Check Kolkota as a metro. It is very dirty and may people need to be educated in keeping the place clean. Tidying up a few places in a city are not the solution. Need to have a process in place to clean up.
