Seized to trade in UK and europe in 1960, it could not keep up with the brands like Clarks and TUF. BATA's product and design are way outdated. BATA can only survive in countries like India and Africa where no one cares about product quality and value for money.
We have been using it since our childhood as "naughty boy". Over the years the durabilty has eroded but prices have jacked up. Quality at affordable price shall be a hit in India for masses. even top brands of footwear sell only when discounts are heavy, though they have priced their products so heavy that even after discount they are most expensive. But bata should offer at honest price since Bata is for masses whereas other foreign brands are for impulsive buyers.
