slum city

If Mumbai comes in a list with these cities, whoever prepared the list will be out of their mind. Mumbai is just a collection of slums. The others are all beautifully planned cities with at least 30 years beyond what Mumbai has now.

YESS - Mumbai is the best city in India!!
by Aditya on Nov 24, 2014 02:07 PM  | Hide replies

Quite simply, Mumbai is the best city in India. Mumbai is to India what New York is to USA. It has a great crowd, great climate, beaches, METRO, First bridge on sea in India and quite simply you have the most beautiful, most intelligent & most wealthy people in India staying in one city and that is MUMBAI.
It has great colleges, great crowd, great entertainment options, great night life. It is just the best city to live and grow up in all of India.
I love my Mumbaiii!!!

Mumbai is certainly the best city in India as of Today. But I am certain that by the end of Modi government, this city will not even rank in the world's top 50. See what happened to Gujarat. Gujarat was the second richest state in India when Modi took over and now the state is on the bottom list of top 10 richest states in India.

Mumbai is a great place to live and work in, if you like to fight crowds and walking through human excrement to get to local railway stations daily!

That is just LAME!
by sarang mehta on Nov 23, 2014 08:53 AM

Dear Rediff,
Puhleeeease audit your processes to accept such lame articles as news feeds for your page. Such dumb claims are an insult to our intelligence at best.
Do you even realize what this article says? I just glanced thru it and its preposterous.
Mumbai is a huge stinky slum. Let us count now - The infra is in shambles and the average office goer commutes for 2 hours one way in most inhuman conditions to get to work and back.
The pavements (what remains of them)are broken and encroached.
The traffic jams are a daily occurrence due to bad roads.
Slums all over the city are just vote-banks and an eye sore.
Civic sense is ZERO as the population does NOT fear laws(people urinating and defecating everywhere).
Both the airports and the view from above are despicable.
All this is due to the excellent management of the place by Sonia and gang ever since we remember. We have full faith in the Modi Government now and confident of this CM's abilities. We believe he will deliver, but let us face it. The decay and the mess are so deep rooted that it will take a good length of time.
It will happen, but until it does, please do not insult our intelligence by calling Mumbai a 'GOOD' city to live and work in....certainly NOT in the same breath as London, Tokyo, NY,Toronto, Amsterdam and Singapore.
Jai Hind

Indeep surpise is mumbai...
by Sameer Shaikh on Nov 23, 2014 08:47 AM  | Hide replies

Well the thing about Mumbai is the more dirtier the city is the more dirtier the people of that city. It is indeed a very bad city. No financial city in world faces problem with drainage in rainy as mumbai. Life is not only difficult but so dirty that it is beyond words to describe this slumbai. After being so dirty, smelly and filthy the cost of living is so high.

I was calculating price comparison index for mumbai and karachi, found surprising that in karachi you can rent a flat for 6000 INR which is around their 11,000 INR in main plush market which will be around 80,000 to 1.5 lakh INR in India and in karachi all they need is 50,000 Pakistan rupees which is around 28,000 INR rupees to live a decent life means one only needs to go abroad send 500 USD dollar to Pakistan to make life of one family comfortable.

In Mumbai with such high cost of living in such dirty and filthy city even 1 lakh INR cannot be sufficient to live a decent life... Cost is unbearable with people charging rates close to London in food, accommodation in this dirty city.I am ashamed to be born in that filth. Left it long time back

sorry 11,000 PKR... people will draw comparison Pakistan has militancy, multiple problem, internal strife, no meritocracy, fundamentalism... It is just an example I gave with Pakistan to compare how costly India has become... Politicians here should feel ashamed of themselves they did not control population and improved life of poor that even a Pakistan living cost is cheaper than here
