Bank Strike.
by FRANCIS DIAS on Nov 11, 2014 01:42 AM  | Hide replies

Pub.Sect.Banks are highly understaffed. Since 1980 for 25 years there was hardly any recruitment. And in 2000 the VRS came in.Nearly half the work force left and the work load just kept increasing.Today the situation is real bad.The top mgmt. shifts the burden on to the lower category & makes them work for even 12 hrs. a day.Nobody complains because the sword of a transfer to within 150 kms dangles over his head. The computers work so slowly as more & more branches are opened & many a times there is no connectivity. The top mgmt. does not do anything about this. The frontline staff bears the brunt of the customers' ire. This Staff is as competent if not more than the pvt. Bank Staff who is paid twice as much.Recently the PM Mr. Mody made the public sector Banks open lakhs of A/cs and took all the Credit. They toiled late hrs. into the next day. Now he should repay them for the effort they put in.He should be more Humanistic and not a cruel Dictator.

More private banks required
by on Nov 10, 2014 09:13 PM  | Hide replies

The govt should encourage more private banks to operate by giving them more licences. The Public sector banks are white elephants they have huge staffs but service is very poor compared to the private banks.

This is not true. There is a severe shortage of staff in PS Banks particularly in Rural and semi urban branches.

On the other hand a majority of our customers are unwilling accept modern banking facilities such as debit cards, atm cards, and online banking etc. Age old system of cash deposit/withdrawal at Bank counter, passbook entry , demand draft etc etc is still preferred by Banks.

Regarding Private Banks please be aware that they are not customer friendly. Their Service charges are too high and they normally entertain only wealthy customers.

Need to look on larger perspective.
by vadivudaiselvi on Nov 10, 2014 08:19 PM

we need to look every problem on a larger & longer perspective, due privatisation of Many Public sector companies & allowing Pvt co to enter creamy buisness right from Oil,Petro products,Power ,retail & telecom, the price has risen like poison,if we privatise any sector or govt org to Corporates devinetly they will first cut the Human resources in half and make many jobless then all these strikes will start. One question to any govt when a pvt co. with out any proper resources experience can run an organisation why not the govt which ha Many capable IAS officers and experts in the field.the corporates are running their buisness succesfully with the ex Govt officials only mainly in Oil & gas buisness.

Strike
by arungopal agarwal on Nov 10, 2014 07:57 PM

Majority of problems are with public sector or Govt. employees, DA lked insalary, perqs. and retiral are unmatchable to any private sector at least for class IV, III and II employees. Govt. must bring them at par with private sector in terms of leaves and retiral benefits. All non performers, suspected corrupts and unfits must be retired early, why they should carry upto the age of 60, rather youngs should be inducted.
