Addicted to Ambassador
by vincent george on Jun 29, 2014 01:16 PM

As there are so many technological advancement in the automobile industry, there is one thing certain, a owner will proudly say that he owns an ambassador. The rugged performance ruled the rough Indian roads with ease. The strong body and the smooth suspension gives you the comfort. You cannot forget the long drives, curves, bends, Ghat sections, Potholes and unexpected bumps with the power of a "Macho".
Sad to miss it. I still rate this car has proved itself as "THE BEST"for indian roads.

Once we also owned an ambassador car. This was our first car. For this reason only we had emotional attachment for this car. But this car never gave us joy ride or peace of mind. From cabin sound to under suspension bushings, consumption uneconomy, in fact it was petrol guzzler, bad and hard steering arrangement, poor aesthetics, rust vulnerable body giving trouble every now and then, no proper place for genuine servicing. Ultimately we had to bid adieu to our this car. Then we bought Maruti van as it was as spacious as our amby..the nine years that we spent it with this car were a pleasure. After this we bought Hundai Santro Zing in 2004 another Guzzler. To some up I would say that the consumers in India are lucky that this mazburi ka naam gaadi is formal made to extinct. And it was bound to happen as for how long in this world u can befool the people by changing grills, and head and tail lamps and term it as face lift. Again Santhanam the MD of HM continuosly failed to deliver still he was allowed to continue amidst the fast changing auto world scenario so this was inevitable. Now perhaps the huge land in Uttarpara might be used for the most greedy sector called realty.

Birla bhoot!

Well, more than blaming the incumbent Govt or the previous Govt, its CK Birla who has to be blamed for mismanagement. Due to their penny wise pound foolishness policy today most of CK Birla concerns are closing down. Another group company the Orient Paper Mills in Odisha has been closed since 1998-99 rendering more than 20000 families without a earning source. All the time these guys believed in making the while sun shines. When they earned, they never innovated nor adopted to change. Now they have the vast acreage of land at their hand to sell off on piece meal basis & live a king's life in their fortified bungalows, swanky cars & harems.

Birla's and every one else did not believe and research into new products and manufacturing technique update.
They depended on foreign research and know how, why do it when you can buy it ready made was the attitude and it still is from the government down to the gutter rat it is the same story.
Old methods old machinery which is not capable of keep the hunger of the consumer at bay.
There production instead of increasing either went down or stayed the same.
To meet the production cost without increasing productivity all of them increase prices and in the process become expensive and price them self out of the market.
An average time a person drive the same car in the west is about 8 years. most get scraped after about 5-6 years.
In India weather one can afford it or not a car is for life and very rarely get changed in 15- 20 years unless something drastic such as an accident where vehicle is beyond repairs.
With such attitude companies and traders are bound to go out of business, all because the could not compete with the competition nor the produce any thing that can be of interest to the consumer.
Manufactured and sold by Morris Motors Limited. (a company which closed about 40 years ago) In 1957, all the tooling of British Morris Oxford Series III was transferred to India. It is not an Indian design, Modern Ambassador is just a variant with cosmetic changes.
Ambassador manufacturer in India did not have a foresight to design and manufacture other cars alongside , Cont:

Ambassador, This company has no other product to replace this aging model whose production has stopped and started many times and the number of units dropping every year all because Ambassador can't keep up with the competition, Small countries such as Japan, Koria etc are much way forward in vehicle manufacturing then India.
day are not far when the whole production will stop throwing the entire manpower out of work.

AMBASSADOR CARS
by ramachandran ramesh on May 31, 2014 11:28 AM

As usual the blame game started now. Both management and workers union are to be blamed for this situation. When modernization took place by introduction of new models and cars in INDIA they were sleeping. Same is the case of FIAT and STANDARD MOTORS. The other two vanished from scene. Our industry captains should learn lessons from these closed companies and switch to happenings around the world.

give full credit to cpm and left front who helped this company to close their business since mid 80's with lethal CITU led trade union. people around this company know very well how cpm looted this company with the help of their CITU trade union. in the same process cpm led left front forced most of the small/medium and large factories to close their production and business one after another and ruined bengal and made bengalees pauper.

is DIDI any better? I think Buddhadeb Bhattacharya brought some change - which unfortunately hit the Mamata blockade and now WB is running behind in faster pace - worst performer in most fields than any other state in this country.

Unmatched comfort. Remarkable safety even without frills like ABS, EBD, ABC, XYZ, blah blah. Only sore point: fuel economy (to some extent)

Root cause for end of Ambassdor car
by Raninderharsh Singh on May 26, 2014 12:23 PM

It was a good car for Indian cars, only Ghandhi Khandan wanted to introduce new cars at cost of Indian tax payers and create road jams. Indian govt should stop using of SUV etc rather export them only use Ammbador ca.r for official jobs.
