Let us see to it that no public property is defaced by pasting all sorts of posters like we see on the support pillars of monorail, fly overs etc throughout India .Even this small action will make our cities presentable.
When we look at the picture of the Monorail , feel sad that whatever comes , our mentality will not change and we will never think of making our country a neat and clean country. Wherever we go abroad , the Metro rails are part of the pride and they keep not only the trains but the surroundings also clean to show their intention to the world . we too do sow our intention in our own way. Look at the pillars of the rail . May be , we can blame it on the rain for the coloration though a better coating of paint can be had that withstands rain like in UK , Singapore etc . What about those posters of politicians and movies . has this become a poster culture for us dirtying everywhere and by force even on the walls of private homes . We need to graduate to a much higher level of civic sense in case we want to identify ourselves as a developed or developing ( with a true intent) country. The government both at the Union and state level should bring in rules like the developed world including most of the gulf countries have done , of implementing strict punishments to those who dirty the areas including the leaders of the political parties and film distributors etc . who are the main villains in this. let them spend money and establish flex boards in designated areas as permitted by law.

The persons in/on the posters should be banned for voting/candidature for any elections for minimum 10 years

also look at the way of our traffic management ( no traffic signals and look at the traffic policeman in the picture ) in the commercial capital of our country which should be a city to be show cased like what Chinese had done with Shanghai . We show a beautiful example of anarchy in everything we do to manage our lives . We need to come out of this shell as we can very well do all these things which we show when we go out of the country and live . we have taken our own country for granted which needs to change .

Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Washington DC, etc are better cities with lower crime rates and better weather conditions. New York is hyped up for nothing except the Wall Street; the city does not have a well balanced economy and is too expensive for living.
It is not surprising that Indian cities are way behind other major cities given the fact that we are lagging in many of the critical areas. Probably such a ranking is not relevant in our context!

Indians have an inferiority complex. Many western cities have too much crime. With Modi as PM, Indian cities will advance further in international ranking.

one thing why our cities are lagging is that we do not have civic sense

Rajan I fully agree many Indian specially (NRI) have inferiority Complex. They would never miss a chance to run down India in every case. I believe it is their guilt conscience. Somewhere down their heart they feel their decision to leave their mother land and moving to another country isn’t right. but It is difficult to accept that we did something wrong. So they always try to find some justification for their decision and easy option is to run down India. In a sense they try to convince themselves that they aren’t selfish but had no option but to move.
What do they mean bu cultutal exchnage..How is Bangalore ranked ahead of chennai in cultural xchnage.. Chennai is a major cultural hub of South indian classical arts..with vistors from world over..Its a major film ,drama, music centre..
