Asian Urbanization

In Dragonland, the mandarins know what they have to do and just get it done, no fuss.
Of course, they have the added advantage of pretty-much owning everything, land included, and most importantly, not having to appease ignorant and illiterate voters or any vote-banks of all shade.
There, if you suffer from a brain injury, they call in a neurosurgeon, competent or otherwise.

Here, in plodding elephantland, the totally useless, inept and incompetent netas have neither the will nor grit nor know-how to get anything done.
Their model of economic development and poverty alleviation is sops galore...massive, treasury-draining subsidies of every kind imaginable.
Here, if you have a brain injury, rather than a neurosurgeon, they consult the village idiots, who have last say on all such matters...since they can "vote".

Right approach

I go to China every year for business purpose, and have had a glimpse of this massive infrastructure project(36kms long elevated bridge) being carried out there, connecting Hong Kong to Macau & Zhuhai. Presently catarman rides are only option, and takes nearly 1 hour, whereas this bridge once complete will shorten the journey to 25 minutes.

NGOs
by raju on Mar 22, 2014 10:08 AM  | Hide replies

NGOs are the big hurdle in India. Politcal will power is not there. Public are selfish. You do any project, the locals of that area will think how to loot from govt. and trouble the construction Industry. Lazy and unhealthy workers. Loot by construction company by doing mal practices in quality. Above all how to loot attitude of Politicians and govt agencies and middlemen. Ours is a country where only negativity is there. No poitive thinking. NGOs in group will create all kind of hurdles for the project to pick up with no knowledge of Technical or commercial. How come India can shine like China where they are clear how to go forward. We as indian talk of only history and never talk of future. We are best to do labour work in IT industry.

well,if it is your land you will be taking help of same NGOs.Problem is that even after 50 years of acquiring land for dams people are homeless and compensation not given at all.The problem is total lack of morality which unfortunately is our culture, at all levels ,starting from people themselves.

Creditable vision
by biswanath roy on Mar 22, 2014 09:27 AM

One has to admire the vision of the Chinese leaders including those of Hong Kong SAR, for their long term planning of connectivity of the Pearl River Delta cities, which is the life line of South China including HK. HK today is a major financial hub of Asia, and it is because of its commerce with China & rest of Asia. 80% of Indians think HK is a separate country, whereas in actuality it is a part of China with a democratic set up, in place of one party rule in mainland China.

china has no human rights, if anyone dare to protest against any project , he will be in the list of thousands of missing people, who had dared to do the same before.

I come from China. It is one-sided, and even can be said to be a bias: there is no human rights in China.
China's human rights is limited human rights, namely a few people are subject to the interests of most people's interests.
When the country's or what most people need to a few people will have the appropriate compensation when they sacrifice their own interests, although sometimes reluctant or compensation is not equal.
These things happen often in the infrastructure construction, most of the time can get a satisfactory solution.
As you know there is no perfect things in the world ,we always get and lost some.luckily,we get more and more valuable.
