Lets respect our leaders
by ajay prasher on Nov 03, 2014 10:36 AM

There are certain initiatives which are not to be measured with mere expenditure. Such excuses serves lame political mileage and unnecessary gossip. India deserves a befitting gift to the man who created united India. His contribution has been ignored since independence and only Gandhis and Nehrus have taken center stage. This monument will be a landmark symbol of Ironman and would continue to inspire generations to come, that country is bigger than an individual. And Individuals of that country combined can express their gratitude by creating worlds largest statue as a mark of respect of their beloved leader.

Sardar Patel: he would be shocked to see this spend.......
by Gulzara Azad on Oct 30, 2014 03:24 AM  | Hide replies

I am very sure that if Sardar Patel was asked the option: he would opt for anything that helps Common Citizens of India and not his Stataue for Rs.200 crores.Let Narender Modi rework his ideas and paln to build a good Memorial of Chain of Scools for the Children of this Arae and allow the Meemory to grow as the children grow??? Can the PM rewor the Paln and make it more appropriate as tribute to the man who was so humble yet so capable ,in fact more capable than the elite Nehru...let us spend National Money for is concern for common ma.....Jai Hind ..Jai Sardar Patel.

Life of a common man
by Ganesh Iyer on Aug 08, 2014 10:44 AM

Hindustan got freedom long back but a Hindustani is yet to get freedom.Common man is always ordinary n common. We cant live with dignity n respect without fear anywhere in India either in day or night or in a train. There is open loot n killing in trains n highways. Land n property of common man is grabbed systematically by crooks under law n judiciary is worst to be trusted n most corrupt n unpredictable. Maharashtra has a system called Kabjedar meaning Holder of Property which simply means a tresspasser. But after paying taxes n fees to Govt. there is no govt. to protect the land n property of law abiding citizens n.the advocates make a good bargain.making them run after courts which r at times against truth, illogical, unethical n fraud orders. Who cares except the poor has to run from lower courts to higher courts n still dont reach towards justice. The common man is forced to pay huge taxes n toll n there is no relief for the poor..One CM just one month old forgets that many in his new state dont even wear slippers finds it better to give Rs One crore as state ambassador to a daughter in law of pakistan. A huge statue of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Mumbai too will ridicule the starvation suicides of 25000 farmers in state n now there is dispute of Belgaum where politicians ignite n provoke anti social elements within to destroy national property on.highways. Are we a united nation first ? Why not give tax reliefs to the middle class than wasting money like these. Neither man nor god can save this nation it seems. In Maharashtra none of the politicians bothered to c that the workers r paid properly. Leaders r happy as long as citizens fail to ask about their well being.

currently indian railway not in good condition.
instead of taking proper steps for railway to revive the growth and allocating money for that they announced the metro and that to from ahemadabad to Mumbai and cost is 60000 crores it is not necessary in current situation.first run high spped trains all over the india then take steps for metro.if the 60000 crores will be used in railway instead of in metro it will help for common man and railway also

Sradar Patel statute..
by Bodh Ramdeo on Jul 11, 2014 11:28 PM

Not the highest and best use of scarce taxpayers money, especially seeing as there is hundreds of millions desperate aam aadmi living in poverty and filth...
While well intentioned, this project should be in the public domain...the main bulk of funding for the construction, upkeep and maintenance of the 'statue' should come from public donations with some funding from govt, with the responsibility for construction, functioning and maintenance residing with a specially-created NGO.

Out of 2000 crores, govt will make more money each year
by Rajesh Chheda on Jul 11, 2014 08:36 PM  | Hide replies

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Statue will become a tourist attraction not just for Indians but tourists coming from abroad also.
Net effect is going to be positive for the economy in terms of foreign exchange and tourist earnings.
Purely from commercial point of view, the proposal is positive, ideologically speaking, SVP needed to be honoured long time ago, Congress has definitely not done enough to highlight other freedom fighters and nation builders other than those from Nehru family and Gandhi family.

If indian people (most of the middle class only) can donate more than 2 lakh crore every year (mostly by the same poor man )in mandir and other religious settings; which god only knows how that money is used. Then why can't this small amount for a true nation server.

It is needed
by Aravind S on Jul 11, 2014 08:29 PM  | Hide replies

Today it will be compared with economic conditions of the country. In 10 or 20 years if you want to build then the same cost will be 1000 crores, then same question will arise is it required. In Post-Independence India hasn't seen anything or to cherish or to be proud of it. We need to engage this opportunity to showcase it and there will be tourism and today's generation will get to know to Sardar.

IT IS AN ATROCIOUS DECISION
by Vascado on Jul 11, 2014 02:57 PM

In a poverty stricken Country where more than 65% of the population goes hungry in the night, this decision to build a statue on public funds is criminal and atrocious. This project was envisaged by Modi and was proposed to be built by deploying Gujarat Government funds as well as public donations. The total cost of this project was estimated to be around $ 338 million and what a waste of public money to honour an icon. Would not the legacy of Patel be well preserved with constructing a School or College in his name ? After the BJP took over power at the Centre and is presenting its first budget, the Finance Minister in these troubled times and pressed for monetary resources is allocating Rs. 200 crores for this project without battling an eye lid in a bid to placate Modi. No time should be wasted to rescind this ill timed decision and allocate this fund elsehwere.
