More than half a century has gone after starting of GAP, some civil works contractors only must have benefitted, rational treatment and disposal policy has not been followed apparently. There should be a new approach to the problem consulting eminent people like R.Ramaswamy Ayyar ! MS Swaminathan

Polluting and then planning and getting even foreign aid to clean rivers is funny! How Thames is rendered clean? DO NOT LET ANY WASTE WATER INTO RIVERS WITHOUT TREATMENT AT ANY COST TO GENERATOR OF WASTE WATER! THERE IS NO OTHER GO!

All industries on Gnga side from Haridwar to Gangasagar must be involved in this project. Compensatory amount must be collected from these units, may be in the form of penalty or share in the project.

root cause

root cause is the population rise. try to bring population to sub 10 crore levels in India and maintain it there. Chose only quality breed people and allow only them to produce children. Everything will automatically fall in place in due course of time.

No dear Prakash, he's not to blame. Looks like he was abused by Mullayam, Akhilesh, Mayabatti & their cronies. Hence his medulla oblangata has left the alignment with spinal cord, thereby rendering his mind blank & balance, unstable.

How can we clean the Ganga
by Aditya Misra on Jan 27, 2014 02:55 PM

We have to adopt a multi pronged strategy. the following steps need to be taken-
1. Constitute a special police force called Ganga Rescue force and post them across the banks of the Ganga throughout the course of the river
2. identify the industries located at the banks of the river and relocate them 3 kilometers away from the bank of the river.
3. restrict entry to the ghats and prevent all the chemical detergents, soaps to be carried to the river
4. plug all the drainages to Ganga
5. deploy the fish, turtles and organisms which consume the bio degradable waste.
6. Create small ponds near the river so that the people can immerse the puja flowers etc in the ponds.

Clean the Ganga
by Aditya Misra on Jan 27, 2014 02:44 PM

If we really want to clean Ganges, we have to start right from Haridwar. Following measurews may be taken-
1. A Ganga Police (special force) should be created, and posts be created at the banks of Ganga, so that all points creating pollutions can be plugged effectively.
2. All industrial units situated at the banks of Ganga be relocated at least 3 kilometers away.
3. All ghats where people take sacred bath should have restricted entries and no chemicals soaps, detergents, other pollutants be allowed.
4. People immersing the puja flowers, idols etc. should be prevented, and given alternative placs, may be small ponds (ganga talab.
5. Turtles and pollutant eating fish and organisms should be deployed in the Ganga.
with these steps I hope we can have a cleaner Ma Ganga after say 5 years.
