by nitmohan on Jan 27, 2014 08:19 PM

After a Democracy of 66 years also...... Amounting to Sixty per cent of the worlds population (do not have access to toilets) live in India, and hence are forced to defecate in the open. Sixty per cent = 626 million. This makes India the number one country in the world where open defecation is practiced.

Lack of infrastructure facilities by Indian Tourism Department
by Ramanarao Kallepally on Jan 26, 2014 04:56 PM

The Indian Tourism Department is least bothered for maintaining cleaning, safety and to provide infrastructural facilities to the Tourists who are coming from the neighboring countries to see the monumental around the Indian cities, people are mostly come to see Kashmir, Shimla, Goa Nainital, Agra, Fatehpuri Sikhri, Mysore, Kaziranga of Assam, Konark Temple of Orissa etc. The link roads, and rail facilities are very much lagging upto the expectations of the tourists. Due to this the tourists are not interested to see the Indian tourist places, all these things should be taken by ITDC, New Delhi.

We in India still lack some qualities.
by samudra blr on Jan 26, 2014 04:04 PM

1. The most important thing is to provide good quality clean toilets.
2. We need to stop littering and see that public places are clean.
3. Provide safety to visitors.
4. Hotels should provide good toilets and linen.
5. We should encourage visitors to try Indian food by providing much cleaner restaurants.

We should improve hygiene, law and order, infrastructure and develop tourism spots in a big way if we have to attract more tourists. We have the potential but oldie politicians are too impotent to make any difference. We need new generation to take over.

Yes u r right. Last week I had been to Bangkok & Pattaya. Their infrastructure is amazing. There are lot of flyovers in Bangkok & no traffic jams barring one/two streets. My drive to Airport from Hotel is smooth and reached within 20 minutes for a distance of 30 kms. I have not found beggars on roads. As you said new generation should takeover to improve tourism & infrastructure in our country
