When the powerful people talk about uplifting the Dalits or Minorities, what they actually mean is giving some freebies to them and keeping the dalit a dalit and majority in fear. If a dalit is put in confinement he can never feel equal to another. But if they are brought in a cosmopolitan society, in that there is no fear and everyone is equal. And this seems true of all over Asia, there is no war in cosmopolitan communities of Jewish and Arabs or Shia and Sunnis or Hindus and Muslims. People don't fight amongst them selfs, it is always outsiders that target cosmopolitan communities trying to break such unity. What Asia and south Asia needs is not FDI in retail but consolidated spending power and less of Dollar dependence. But present day political setup in Asia is only bent on destroying the cosmopolitan nature of Asia into vote banks of division. And because the process of FDI in retail whatever whoever may lobby for it. It is a process of snatching 60% of our GDP from the hands of common people into the hands of powerful people. It can only lead to more polarization and more hatred amongst people. I don't know if BJP is serious about their opposition to FDI in retail but Its a good start by AAP in Delhi. I hope their leadership will lead local trade free from tariff and non tariff barriers and this process will expand all over Asia to brake emotional barriers to everyday commerce and connect Asia in a meaningful way.
