by Ravi Kaimal on Jul 26, 2014 09:40 AM

why is there no mention of Naya Raipur, the new Capital City of Chattisgarh? I sit because it has been completely done by Indians?
It is far larger than most of these and is one of the very few greenfield capital cities of the 21st Century. Please include and appreciate.

Navi Mumbai - Planned City - What a joke
by gabroojat on Jul 03, 2014 11:39 PM

Navi Mumbai is a classic example of a how to develop a badly planned city. Being a resident of Navi Mumbai myself, I have seen how the city infrastructure has deteriorated. The roads are narrow, there are no parking spaces. There are no service road. There was no foresight by the so called great planners. There is hardly any difference between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Both places are junk and unlivable.

Why is rediff after all these hypes?
by Pat Thakur on Jul 01, 2014 02:35 PM

The major thing that India lacks is Patriotism, Civic Sense n Urge to Develop Truly. Until n unless these are imbibed fully, no use just hyping (aka rediff mind you, not us) money or big things.

All these calculated hypes are done by crafty combine of western marketing lobbies n western media to fool our own frivolous Indians, including paid media, who get enamoured by these reports n publish them here, trying to gain or increase TRP.

Sewage and Waste treatment plants, Metro trains , .....
by India Desi on Jun 23, 2014 11:37 AM

India first and foremost needs Sewage and Waste treatment plants , good sewage lines , good roads and Metro(indigenous) trains (connected with comfortable buses) all over the country.

A Good road means at least 8 to 10 feet of walking space on each side of the road, 4 feet for trees on each side , 3 feet for gutter and 50 Feet on each side for two lanes of vehicles. With out this minimal specification constructing a road can be called old, inefficient and half baked design.

Navi Mumbai should bot be in the list since the quality of construction is pathetic , roads are not well maintained, very high corruption and development is not planned and systematic. Just have a few roads which are somewhat good is not enough. ALL roads and lanes should be wide and planned.

New Cities of the World
by Ashwin on May 22, 2014 06:08 PM

Height of human achievement/technology certainly to be appreciated. But the whole World is forgetting one simple thing. Energy! On one hand every Country is crying to save energy but we see that every Country is developing such high rise buildings. Just imagine the energy consumed on elevators, Climate Control, lighting etc. Above all, all at the cost of health. We are seeing more & more Tsunamis/Cyclones and just one incident of Nature's fury, everything will be in dust because all these are very close to Sea except Navi Bombay & Lavasa. But Navi Bombay is already crowded, within 25 yrs. Whats the point of planning such cities which can not meet growth of 25 yrs?
