why pay divided to ex chequer?
by amit agarwal on Feb 12, 2014 04:31 PM

when railways is cash strapped why is it paying dividend to ex chequer? all income is paid as dividend and then in the name of cash strapped railways fares are raised and it leads to inflation in the economy. dividend is given only when there is income. so its a big lie that railways is in loss. If the entire dividend is re-invested then railways is not cash strapped. Stop running nuisance non stop trains like durontos. it takes same time as any rajdhani/shatabdi. Make garib raths run daily. Increase height of platforms on urgent basis and reduce the gap between platform and coach. do electrification fast so that diesel consumption is reduced or eliminated and thus we'll have huge impact on Current Account Defecit. Not just by banning import or making expensive of gold/silver will CAD improve. Do something for animals. Thousands of dogs, cats, cows, goats, buffaloes, elephants and birds are killed because of railways. No mercy is shown to attend them on urgent basis or to their carcass. They die in so much pain that if one sees the accident alive then he will vomit seeing the animal in pain. Insure every passenger against death/becoming handicapped for atleast Rs 2 crore with insurance company so that his family doesn't starve and die because of railways mismanagement. If the entire dividend would have been invested in taking insurance cover for every passenger then may be thousands would have benefitted.

Request for comfortable journey
by venu pillai on Feb 12, 2014 03:36 PM

we have experience fall down of roof bogies in scheduled train, no action for replacing the old bogies has not been taken. You take more fare but provide comfortable journey, which is not available presently. If you see the long distance trains, one will fear to travel, how is so"!.

Railway budget
by Subrata Bhaumik on Feb 12, 2014 01:53 PM

Pleasantly surprised to observe that this is not a populist budget keeping election in mind, neither it shows bunching of projects or new trains in any particular area. Would have been glad to note particular safety measures taken by Railways. Also I hope that bringing Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya in Railway map will materialise.
