Just because in power for long time in TN and also as alliance partner in centre, these people made lots and lots. They grew due to political power and loots. There is no special calibre and definitely no where near to Chanakya.
Rob from others. Never mind if it is money, jobs, power, business etc. Use intellectually vacuous theories about racial invasion, victimization by brahmins, north indians etc as justification for the robbery. This is the easy part.
Run clean and effective governments, keep businesses afloat, generate jobs; this is another matter altogether, and beyond dravidian (by the way, totally fictitious) revivalists. Take recourse to a brahmin woman (corrupt and autocratic, but better nonetheless) to do the tough part.

what 5000 crores? some time back I read that their empire is worth 7 lakh crores. The legal money managed by the DMK party's trust (money donated to party election expenses by workers) itself is valued around 40000 crores.
I strongly condemn comparing Mara(o)n to Chanakya. These people are in this position because of their political clout for decades. Definitely Marans are not known for efficiency or competency. That is why Marans & Mallyas are failing in airline business
