US says India refusal on WTO deal a wrong signal

Modi sarkar must be congratulated for rebuffing John Kerry and for its firm stand in WTO taken in national interest. Only worry is there is lot of pressure on the govt. from within the country from the so called economists and we find columns almost daily criticizing the Modi govt. on its stand in WTO asking it to give in to U.S. and west in the name of reform. We can only wish the govt. doesn’t buckle under pressure during the next meetings in September.Remember the infamous Bengal famine when millions died of starvation in early 20th century which was man made by Britain creating food shortages to serve its own interest . India is not just poor country but populous too and has to have farmers’ support prices and strengthen other agriculture related policies for increasing production and their just survival. Equally important is adequate buffer stock to help poor tide over crisis of shortages and consequent price rise due to poor monsoon , spiraling inflation etc. The so called ‘price distortion’ what these western nation are talking about is the problem lower food prices in international market due to India being only marginally dependent on them.They want to create a condition of shortage and starvation within to force India to buy food from international market at high prices. Situation could deteriorate to a famine like condition! India must not budge from their position and stand firm on its national interest. Even otherwise Trade Fa

9contd.)..Even otherwise Trade Facilitations are not going to be of much help for India .it will only help the rich country with mechanized farming doling out $ billions of fuel subsidy to their rich farmers even while opposing our pro-poor subsidy policies to barely surviving farmers and rural/urban poor.

....the image of US is taking a beating...the image of MOdi has further improved by resisting the bullying of US......Modi stands for India's intrsts unlike the former PM , MMS...!!
