FOOD SECURITY BILL
by mountaintiger on Sep 14, 2013 01:27 PM

The Author's Comparison of "Food Security Bill" with "Soviet FOOD CRISIS" is meaningless.

On the Other Hand,

The Food Security Bill of India will seriously affect every citizen across India. The Price of Food Grains will go higher.

If the MONSOON falters for two or three consecutive years. Certain States of

India will go under the knife of "FOOD CRISIS"

SOVIET UNION - TELANGANA ISSUE
by mountaintiger on Sep 14, 2013 01:12 PM

Nice story about Soviet Union. They faced FOOD CRISIS after their COLLAPSE because

1. Food Producing Moderate Temperature Agricultural Lands,
2. Extremely cold snow covered ICE CAPS with rich Natural Oil and Gas Resources,
3. Well Developed Cities holding the Literacy rate with Good Schools, Colleges and Universities with Good Connectivity and Infrastructure.

4. And their Super Strong Defense Resources.

ALL GOT SCATTERED into different Small Countries. IT TOOK THE TOLL on every Sector of a Particular Region that was a part of former USSR.

We have a similar Scenario - "Telangana"

Job security Bill instead of Food security bill.
by Shyam Sharma on Sep 11, 2013 08:41 AM

This is a short cut way of voting 2014 election making the people fool by giving a lolly pop.

Govt should rather put efforts to creat jobs and raise a job security bill instead of Food security bill.

gov. should spend same amount as of food bill, on creating jobs, on infrastructure, on power plant, on irrigation projects which are half done & are pending for want of funds.
the advertisement of food bill itself tells the story that "LALA HAI TO ANAJ NAHI"

Food Bill

Purely political gimmick, heaviest burden on tax payers. Let us see the guts of our FM and PM, whether can they bring some money from the kitty of perqs. of politicians and govt. servants which are 250% of carry home salary including retiral. If congress is serious for poors, let them first control their population and provide MNREGA type employment to all by way of cutting govt. expenditure on perqs. Money can be generated very well from there. Money collected is the money of whole nation in particular of needy not only for govt. servants and politicians.

Food bill is or PDS has specific dimensions that determine its scope and operabiity on sustainable basis with out causing harm to economy at large. These are (1) Should it be universal or Targeted (2) Should it be medelled along the Income - Inflation patterns and relations that is should it be dynamic one or static one that is with no reference to income growth and increasing inflation for given time periods? (3) Emerging situations out of Stagflation, Economic slow down, Recission and unemplyment. Then the specific parameters that need to be juxatoposed over above conditions for every given time period are (1) Affordabilty (of people to buy food) (2) Accessabilty and (3) Availabilty. A comprehensive mechanism to ensure food security which must be institutionalised under Planning commission and NDC is the right of way ensuring food security than blanket Acts and wrapping in populist scheme mode will only bleed the economy, give rise to s cams (NREGA is classic example - A half an hour reading of NREGA content, operational and functional details will tell that it is just not implementable or enforcable. If some Social Activists or Dist. Collectors or Leaders say it is being implemented there can be no bigger jok. However Employment Guarantee is must for citizens of any country. But NREGA is scientifically, economically and method and approach wise s tupidly w rongly con ceived scheme.).
