Amazon allows you to load apps not from their appstore. I sideloaded google maps, chrome, youtube and firefox on my kindle fire hd 10 months ago and use them all frequently with no problems whatsoever. I also get regular updates for these and other programs not in the Amazon appstore by using the sideloaded 1mobilemarket.apk app. This was not a difficult process, nor has it caused any unforeseen difficulties.
