A perceptible decline in political culture is getting reflected in the eroding credibility of the constitutional institutions. Attempts to safeguard politically vested interests have led to politicization of these institutions. The increasing political interference in the functioning of these institutions and presence of pliable officials have led to a situation that people are fast loosing their faith in the Democratic system.

Farmers bodies oppose Food Bill

As a farmer I fully endorse the views expressed by Shri Sharad Joshi and others.Already MNREGA rendered non availability of farm laborers. The steep increase in P&K ferilizers by more than 100% increased the cost production. Such increase in P&K fertilizer prices are made subsequent to the announcement of MSP for our produce. i.e the escalation in fertilizers cost are NOT AT ALL REFLECTED IN OUR SALE PRICE.Perhaps farming is the only industry where sale price is insensitive to the associated risk. The New Food Security Bill has been approved by the cabinet without any fore thought. If food grains are not profitable, the natural choice for our farmers is to take up other commercial crop, unless the Govt restricts our freedom of choice to grow the crop we desire. This New Food Security Bill is anti farmer, anti development. It is nothing but a political stunt by UPA Govt out of fear and frustration.
