That works for tiny harriers with one pilot or two pilots in case of trainer version of harriers. That wont work for a huge passenger plane that weigh over 1000 times more than a tiny Harrier. Even harriers avoid vertical take off and landing unless absolutely necessary, because of the huge loss of fuel that vertical take off and landing calls for. Why do you think that catapult are used in modern aircraft carriers instead of vertical take off and landing?

by abrakadabra on Mar 18, 2013 02:28 PM  | Hide replies

doesn't could not sustain an airport and they do not have the required land to build an airport even for the sake of having one.
And it is very unfair to compare India with these TINY nations which are populated by wealthy immigrants of other european countries making them boast huge GDP numbers. They are there only to evade tax payable to their homeland.

India made all progress during the period it was ruled by congress. What is the contribution of Non Congress PMs like Chandrashekhar, Gujral,Deva Gowda,Charan Singh and the great Atalji. Atalji can atleast be creditted for a good and well thought road project. Otherwise the contribution of BJP men as PM was very bad if not a disaster.

A very prominent citizen of India has two wishes, one, to get a Visa to go to USA and two, to become PM of India.

It is ok for u to share your opinion, but don't be shocked when u find that majority of people think opposite. Wait for 2014 elections, Congress will be wiped out of the country

Atalji's achievements
1) Nuclear power - raised India's profile in the world
2) Privatisation of Power - reform in 100 year old law - all the movement you see in power sector is because of that
3) Telecom reforms - making possible even your kamwali bai to own mobile
4) Road project
5) Tax reform (such as tax on exports) - increased India's tax collection drastically
6) Lowering of interest rates giving economy a boost

All these five countries are mountain clad countries and the sparse land is insufficient to build an airport !!! That makes all the difference !!

Why jump gun mate? Not having airport does not automatically mean they are not developed. Look at Per capita GDP of Monaco, it is $153,177, compare it to that of India $1,455 - whopping 105 times.

What your comment only suggests is that Indians still have a set of people who are blind followers, who are less bothered about the country but more bothered about party with a particular flag wins. Its a shame to our country
