What are our scientist doing?
by biswanath roy on Jun 17, 2013 08:32 PM  | Hide replies

India possibly has the largest numbers of engineers and scientist in the world, and many of them have earned in name in this country as well as abroad. It is strange and sad that despite all this we do not find a place in the list of inventions achieved. As reported in our science journals and also those of USA & UK, China is said to be lacking in IT, if that was so,how come they achiEved this.

China is said to be lacking in IT ??OMG,Indians living in the imagination. The output value of China's software industry is 396.4 billion in 2012,and India is just 100 billion .The value of china's software industry will be 5 times of India in 2013 ....China produce great majority hardware in the wrold.

Reply to Bhagwat:
I think Roy is not wrong when he mentions that China's strong point is not IT(Software). Our IT & business journals are regularly publishing articles by our & foreign IT experts who mention India's vast superiority over China in the software sector. However developing the world's fastest computer needs both software and hardware expertise, therefore if China has achieved this it is commendable, and what these so called IT experts write is not correct.

You are wrong。Yes,India might have a dozen or so internationally known software firms, but the majority of their revenues are derived from services such as call centres。China‘s software industry is many times the India's,though it has only a few provately owned and listed concerns。Many big software houses in China are parts of huge comglomerates and are threfore buriedand not known to the outside world。It is also true that each hardware major has its own in-house software subsidiary。Take Huawei as an example。The chances are you've never heard of the company but its annual revenues exceeds 5 billion yuan。India has no hardware power houses, hence no requivalets。The fact that China sends manned space craft into orbit and has supercomputers in the hundreds also point to the level of its software industry。
