Why do we have to wait for an "Ajit Singh" to come along and show how Air India should be run?! Remove bureaucrats and politicians from the controls and hand Air India over to professionals, with clear cut deliverables and accountability for non-performance. In the instant case, why didn't the "Check-in" staff at the airport treat the "Group" as a "no show" and allot the vacant seats to waitlisted passengers?!! Was it a "special" Group? Air India must penalise the staff and send the lesson home!!!
NOT ONLY IN THIS CASE, IN ANY OTHER SUSPENSION AFTER A STRIKE, IT IS A JOKE. AFTER THE MEETING BY THE MINISTER THEY WILL TAKE BACK THE PEOPLE WITH ALL COMPENSATION. NOBODY IS SERIOUS IN THIS. INSTEAD OF SUSPENSION JUST DISMISS LIKE IN GULF COUNTRIES. THEN EVERYTHING WILL BE UNDER CONTROL.
It is very easy to blame on junior staff. But what their supervisor was doing? Did he escape giving a 'I was busy on so and so ...' excuse? If he cannot supervise his subordinates and their work, then why he should remain as a supervisor? This mentality must change. All top brasses should be made accountable and held responsible for any mistake in their department.
I had a similar experience too.After making a booking for a Bangalore-Mumbai flight through a popular booking website,i was not allowed to take the flight by the Air India staff .Apparently,the PNR that was issued to me didn't show up in their itinerary and they just refused to address the issue sending me from one personnel to another.It was very frustrating and eventually i had to pay up for a different flight which cost me 3 times the original ticket.But there was no option for me as i had a connecting flight from Mumbai the same day. I did manage to talk to the website ppl which had issued me the ticket and the so called PNR and they said that Air India should have allowed be to board and it was totally wrong on their part to have not allowed a passenger with a valid ticket to take the flight.

Correct. The cost of 23 tickets should be recovered from them
I remember few couple of years back. I had to book my family on different flights as they were no tickets available and the customer service told me flight was full inspite of visiting a day before to check again and when I boarded the flight 25% of the flight was empty.
