Pamban is 2340 mts as per google, so it would be still shorter than the 10th one listed here .

Dear Sir, I happened to be in charge as the Executive Engineer, PWD, Maharashtra, of the 6 lane new road Bridge across Thane Creek near Mumbai on Sion Panvel road, it is 1837.02 m long. It was completed in 1997. I was also in charge as a Resident Engineer of Lea Associates South Asia, of the second Bridge across Son river on NH 2 near Dehri-on Sone, the photograph of which you have shown as a single entity, the new 2 lane bridge is having the wall type piers supporting 2 rows of bearings. The new Sone road bridge along with the 4 laning of NH 2 between Sasaram and Barun was completed very recently in 2008.

It is at Pamban not very far away from Rameshwaram. There are actually two Pamban bridges , one is the old Railway Bridge called a 'Bascule type Bridge ' in which the central spans can open out to let ships pass. The road bridge is called Indira Gandhi Setu and is near the Railway bridge. The Indira Gandhi Setu was completed in 1988.

None of the bridges shown here are openable to ships like the pamban bridge. All the bridges are beautifull and the achievement of our engineers and technical staff but so also the pamban bridge is the only one bridge which can open in the middle and let ships pass below and once they are closed they can allow trains to pass on top. I wish all indians see the pamban bridge. it must be available on the internet, thanks

The Nhava-Sheva Sewree link is under active disposal by the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Developement Authority. The Uran- Gateway of India link is in dormant stage. No files have been lost. The files are very much there.
