Britishers came to india around 18th century to do trading and later took the advantage of situation and ruled india for 347 years .
Our freedom was killed , Our education system was killed , Our gold and other precious metalminerals looted. They took the Ayurveda and changed the name into modern healthcare system. Germans took our precious articles , books , theoriesconcepts and took control of the technological innovations.
We slowly started loving the western culture .
Again we forgot our history and allowing those countries to control in the name of fake globalization.
Please kill this UPA government and save inda

Social reforms took place everywhere , even in USA women was suppressed and somany social issues were there in western society too.
why u think only outsiders cleaned up , we might had our own people who might have revolted against these kind of social activities

Impossible ... and the reason I say this is that we haven't been able to get rid of social evi1s even today, with so much of exposure to the outside world and after so much of pressure and reforms brought in by the Muslim and British rulers.

Is FDI = East India company
by Tamil Lover on Sep 28, 2012 01:42 PM  | Hide replies

Is FDI something like east India company. It will buy from us and sell to us and in the mean process make huge money. Why is there so much concern from foreigners in support of FDI. IS it for India's good?

Allowing students to study is free flow money into their country.

Initially I supported FDI in retail. But now i suspect this is a ploy. WHy do we need a foreigner to buy from us and sell to us. We can do it ourselves and we are much better off.

See walmart , just by doing this they are world's richest. Most of the 1-10 richest guys

Right now you have a 3 layered chain before goods reach to the kirana stores. So when you buy something the farmer hardly get 10% of that price. and you are paying way too much than what you should have paid. Having superstores buying directly from either farmers or societies will break this chain to make sure farmers get better money and consumers get good bargain.

They do make profits out of it, their profits are based on volume. As they work in huge volumes, giving discounts is affordable to them but not for kirana stores.

Plus if you know how sabzi-mandi system works you will come to know about guys who does nothing but just buying from farmer (who carries his goods by himself to mandi) and selling to retailers (who come to mandi to buy goods). Earms sitting at his place doing nothing! Just because he has license.

If you are OK with having these kind of guys getting more money than those who actually deserves it (farmers, small retailers and consumers) then I think you should oppose such systems.

And we need foreign guys to do it because of their experience in field and amount of money the bring. We hardly have any supermalls or hypermalls from Indian companies.

And I am not just some guy sitting in a AC room blabbering about it. My uncle is a farmer and have seen how ridiculous ways the transactions happen in those markets. Those guys don't even care about the goods they are trading, they put their chappals on it even spit nearby.

So the people who own small stores are not people ? Only farmers should benefit according to your logic. The big superstores will give everything at a discount and middle class will lap it up because they have to pay less. What about hundreds and thousands of small stores owners in India ? Mind you, same thing is happening in US with corporate companies turning the market into monopoly but people manage to survive because economy is good and they can do something to get by. In India, you cant do that. If you lose your main occupation, you are finished.

That itself show you did not read complete comment. I said farmers, small retailers and consumers, read it again. Supermalls never compete with small retailers from towns. supermalls exist only in huge cities that too on boundaries of those cities.

Now think you are living in Mumbai Churchgate area and there is a supermall at Vashi how feasible it is to travel that many kilometers and get all goods you need for a month?

In US or any other developed country it may hamper the small stores because of two facts.
1. They are countries of cities, they have hell lot of big cities and people have tendency of storing things for months.
2. Almost everyone owns a car, so they try to push as much as they can get from supermall and head back home. Because they afford a car and fuel to have a full day round trip to a supermall.

Now look and India. Is it a country of cities? How many huge cities we have? In those cities, what is the amount of people having cars and the mentality to travel 20Km to mall and get goods for a month?

This is issue is been way more exaggerated. We are being way too much cynical as always. And comparing it to East India Co. etc is the height of it. :)
