If all this sounds too daunting, participating in the stock market through mutual funds is a good option. What a suggestion / advise. There is just one way a retail investor can build portfolio. Never listen to the experts. Invest through IPO in the very good companies, (Say A group, NSE 50) and stay put. One shoud have Investment purpose and not trade purpose, just see how the value grows.

if we go to see the performance of IPO in the last 8 years for most of the companies have given a negative return.How to choose the stock question is so critical that till date there is no rule.
