A majority portion of the wealth of these rich Indians is in the form of shareholding in companies promoted by them and thus prone to considerable fluctuations. I think the 52-week low of the stocks held by them should be considered for the purpose of calculations.

As regards black money of politicians, very little is understood by the general public. Black money can ALWAYS be traced because the money is not black money when it is printed. It becomes black because someone earns it through illegal means and then tries to hide it. Why do you think politicians hoard thousands of crores? They are smart enough to know that a 50-60 lakhs is enough to fund a modest retirement and even if they live extravagantly (which looking at them seems unlikely)a few crore rupees is sufficient. But politicians are in the game of power and in this game if you show the slightest sign of weakness and lack of ruthlessness, others will descend upon you; so for the top politicians, its either kill or be killed. Also, elections are ALWAYS won with money ... my cousin, a journalist, once interviewed a slum mafia in Sewri (South Mumbai) who was offered Rs 30000 per vote from the slum controlled by him (@ 5000 votes, he must have made a cool 15 crores). The politician must have obviously earned this money during his tenure and then spent a large part of it to retain his power else the incumbent will come and destroy him. Its like a bunch of sharks. I think a few lakh rupees earned honestly and a peaceful life with friends and well wishers is any day better than having a 1000 crore stash in a Swiss Bank that you can't use and for which you can be murdered any time.

Richest Indians?

If Forbes take account of those people having the black money, the Indian Politicians will rank 1st 10000000 in the wold, and if Indian politicians withdraw the black money from Swiss or other notorious international banks
most of the banks will have to wind up business as they will remain bankrupt and will find it difficult to pay salaries. Even for business people India is the safest country to do business to get favours, get decisions of the govt much before it is printed, evade tax, do No. 2 business and hoard as much money as they want. That much broad minded is this Bharatian Sarkar! We are only waiting to enter the Security Council, get the Developed Country status, and even may merge with America if they unilaterally get this conferment to this country. Here Ministers are shifted, dropped at the behest of Americans.
