THIS IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INDIAN LAW AND FOREIGN LAW.

The case of Rajat Gupta

In India some of our Businessmen&Politicians get away so easily. We have actors who in inebriated state drive over pedestrians-are not even able to meet the Court directed compensation of a meagre 10 Lakhs.Let us stop idiolising them and resolve that we will not go the movies starring them in the lead. Can we atleast display this grit-it is doubtful

In india also this type of things happen but never come on surface. I have seen many listed co got disappeared after taking money from their investors. SEBI has not taken any action against those companies.

Sorry for him. He made country proud before he was convicted. He would not have been convicted so fast and with harsh punishment for the same offence, had he been in India.

But he made India down after he is convicted. The offence for which he is punished in USA, such offence in India does not merit even an inquiry.

John Z DeLorean & Rajat Gupta
by Kabeer on Oct 25, 2012 03:56 PM  | Hide replies

Ever since, Ex-GM Auto Hotshot, John Zachary DeLorean who famously sacked GM, was jailed Rajat probably is the most celebrated corporate honcho who was pronounced guilty and sentenced.

I don't have 100% details of the case against Rajat Gupta, my role model.

But have the following points been thoroughly appreciated by the Jury and Judge before pronouncing him guilty?

1. Why the angle that another source from Goldman Sachs possibly leaked to Rajratnam about the happenings of Goldman's Boardroom discussions, to defame and destroy Rajat as Rajat and Rajratnam are not only of Indian origin but also WERE good friends?

2. Why the argument that soured relationship between Rajratnam and Rajat was taken positively to announce Rajat guilty based on the premise that Rajat wants to recover all his lost money from Rajratnam by divulging this info?

3. When the phone tapping is itself illegal, how come the Jury and Judge dwelled upon it as evidence while pronouncing judgment when the phone taps themselves were not only illegal but also would have been tampered with? Forensic verification can not be ordered as the very tapping itself is devoid of legal sanction

He is an intelligent, well read well travelled man who has brought honor and pride to Indians abroad. Unlike some pan chewing ugly uneducated politician who amasses some 5000 crore and can't even make his own signature.....

When will we learn to condemn crime regardless of nationality? We really have very low expectation from our HEROES!!!
