Check on the owners of super-cars in India - almost certainly majority of them will be realtors. This is just one indicator of the state of poor builders. Shortage of skilled worker? The Govt. should set up training centres for them, with public money of course - ask the chambers of commerce who convene innumerable conferences, workshops etc. where industry leaders deliver highly thought evoking speeches.
Tell me if any virus which is spreading epidemic can get ailment no...but this virus of realty driven by over greed and which has moral support of govt., banks and media..has been caught with a self destructing disease called stagnancy..caused by its rigidness to increase the prices of property artificially and never let it correct itself..hence the problem very simple diagnosis.

agreed. people need houses. the system is based only on profits and rigidity to sell for needs.its a social problem and will need support from many sources.
The level of engineering is lower than that of a Hajaam. Automation should be the key word. Iconic structures ( not eyesores ) need to be created where economics takes a back seat. When everything in our country has become "money centric" and there are no monitoring agencies, no guidelines laying agency or implementing agency, then only LOOT can prevail !!

How can you say all Engineers are hajaam, may be some of them are but not all, you are talking as if you have analysed every engineer in India.

if they will not be money-centric, what is other option? be religion-centric, be caste-centric, be horizontal-centric, be vertical-centric? what other option is there?
Besides labour, deviation from commitment, corruption at political/bureacracy level,black money involvement, unprofessional handling are also contributing to ailment.
MNREGA has done a great lot for mitigating the suffering of the poor. Construction workers were paid pittance and made to work and stay in inhuman conditions. Thanks to the govt

i agree that construction labourers are a neglected lot and are not taken care by the Contractors leading to labour searching for other options rather than construction job
