Super-car test and nation-building
by Manoj Dev on Oct 12, 2012 04:47 PM

Check on the owners of super-cars in India - almost certainly majority of them will be realtors. This is just one indicator of the state of poor builders.
Shortage of skilled worker? The Govt. should set up training centres for them, with public money of course - ask the chambers of commerce who convene innumerable conferences, workshops etc. where industry leaders deliver highly thought evoking speeches.

Engineers in India are "Hajaams"
by Sunil Dodeja on Oct 12, 2012 01:20 PM  | Hide replies

The level of engineering is lower than that of a Hajaam.
Automation should be the key word.
Iconic structures ( not eyesores ) need to be created where economics takes a back seat.
When everything in our country has become "money centric" and there are no monitoring agencies, no guidelines laying agency or implementing agency, then only LOOT can prevail !!

cheap labour is out
by brian crasto on Oct 12, 2012 10:51 AM  | Hide replies

MNREGA has done a great lot for mitigating the suffering of the poor. Construction workers were paid pittance and made to work and stay in inhuman conditions. Thanks to the govt
