unbalanced growth
by BS on Mar 02, 2015 06:17 PM

It is very unfortunate to see that some parts of India such as WB, are not on the development track. This is mainly because of the poor planning and vision by the political class. WB is a victim of communism and Bihar/UP are the lack political will and cast politics.

States like TN/Karnataka/MP/Maharashtra steadily became economically stonger by allowing major industrial players. Karnataka/TN grew in particular, due to strong education.

Government must make sure that the growth is distributed across lenghth and breadth of India else we will see several INDIAS within india with distinct economic and social status.

Rediffs attempt at whitewashing TMC's inept rule
by Bodh Ramdeo on Dec 28, 2014 02:58 AM

Even an illiterate ignoramus would see this piece as Rediff's blatant attempt at promoting pro-TMC propaganda...going to great lengths to delink TMC from any blame in the state's intratcable problems.

Food price have sky rocketed more than comodities produced in industries. So does it make sense in coverting fertile cultivable land to Nano factory, for your information Nano is not a hot selling item and cannot have fed as many people Singur was directly feeding. Think twice - its high time human being should think green otherwise perish...

Peasantry'sRole in industrial Transformation ofBengal
by D goel on Nov 17, 2012 09:30 AM

D. Goel pkl., Morning 9.30AM,saturday ,Nov. 17, 2012.
In all planned industrialization of agrarian communigties, thePeasantry 's love of its land andits habitual attachment tosubsistent agriculture hampers change of modality oftheir life-style under industrial set-up. Sangrur led to left government 'sfall, could it be Haldia cargo handling Firm's denial of jobs to some ofthe their workers around port Trust Dockscause another ouster of Mamta Banerji'spwn Maa matti manus formula from people'saffectionsfor her , andher loss of power? one never knows, Political outcome get confused when somefeminine exploitation by cops create violent protests, as they seem to be increasing during past, under Mamta's rule.

Mistake
by kush chatterjee on Nov 16, 2012 05:25 PM  | Hide replies

Haldia is just a mistake.
Not letting industry to come up in Nandigram and Nayachar was a bigger mistake.
Throwing out TATA from Singur had been the biggest mistake.

The entire face of industrialization in Bengal could have had changed during the first decade of this century had it not been for Ms Mamata Banerjee - the beloved CM of "39% Bengalees". She has put the communists to shame with her brand of socialism.

The darkness has just begun...

China's wealth is created out of Industries. Indian commies are indirectly pushing Indian Industries go to China. Not good for the Country in long run, we have to reap what we saw.

History of Bengal after independence is divided into two periods; period of famine (1947 - 1977) and the period of delayed success (1977 - till date). There was famine in 1959, 1966, and 1974. Famines were mainly due to non-cultivation of land under jotedar ownership. Agriculture is not much profitable for them. After 1977, due to land reform, food production is up and famine problem is solved. There was one potential famine in 1978 (due to big flood), but panchayat and co-ordination committee avoided a famine like situation. So the new period of delayed success started. Haldia is delayed by 12 yrs; Bakreswar by 8 yrs. Singur may come one day after some delay like Haldia. Delayed success is better than famine. However now, famine period may come back due to wrong choice of people in the last election. Irrationalism practiced by media and many people is to be paid by famine.
