Nothing to be proud about!
by Vijay Sahani on Nov 06, 2012 03:01 PM  | Hide replies

The wealth created by Mukesh Ambani is mostly through dubious means, by cheating the nation. It is nothing to be product about.

Is there a legitimate way in which a developing country with per capita income of USD 1000 can create an opportunity for someone to make billions. Obviously not! These billionaires tilt the playing field in their favour to get undue advantage at the cost of others. So, Mukesh Ambani should be ashamed of being in the list of TOP 30 richest person of the world!

Wikipedia and Forbes show different names!! I mean they are not showing the names of King Thailand, who is worth 30 billion, King of Brunei (20 billion) and others from the royal families. Also, most people would try to hide their wealth because they can not show how they earned it.

Richest man in the poorest country! Is this achievement?
by DrMeera Srinivasan on Nov 06, 2012 02:49 PM  | Hide replies

I grew up in a culture, a family and a community where even eating a piece of roti outside, in front of poor children, was discouraged as it would be "rude and cruel". We were taught to live a simple life with balance, integrity and with commitment to social issues. I do live a better life than what my mother enjoyed when she married my poor father in her late teen. But I am still very very poor compared to Mr.Ambani...who seems to have no shame when it comes to "showing restraint and thoughtfulness" towards his poor country and its majority of people who are very poor.

A psychologist would call this "psychology of deprivation". People coming from economic backwardsness sometimes go overboard in their consumption and excess. Mr.Ambani needs psychological therapy, and probably needs to spend time with poor people in his own country. He has a bit of the bhaiyaa mentality where money, money and more money seems to be the mantra. It is disgusting and dangerous to India's progress and security. Look what US has become because of the greedy super rich 1%. Think what something similar would do to an already poor country like India? Take Ambani's money and kick him out and send him to the US...and see how rich White men will treat him. They'll eat him like bacon. Before you feed him to the hungry greedy lions, make suer the country takes his money.

India is poor and will always remain so. I have worked in Singapore, Brunei and now Dubai. I have never seen the slums, poverty and poor people, like I have seen in India. We are still 100 behind rich nations, because we are still considered a third world country by western countries. Just go on line and see.

The population of Singapur, Brunei and Dubai put together is not even equal to one state of India.

All those countries you named are not worth being compared because on parameters like education, research, patent, industrilsation, scientific advancement, they stand no where.

So stop creebing and if you have no shame then surrender your passport like Naipul and take the citizenship of any country that can take the load of a beast. At least we will be happy to get rid of people like you who have no respect for their own country.

Aftab,

If people like you want to live in gutter then nobody can do anything for you!!
meaning if you vote for Congress, then minorities like you will live in gutter, that is what Harjeet has written.
If a country is small or big quality of life matters, which is worst in India.
We are great country but with very poor adminstration.

After taking all kind of favours and benefits / tax holidays from government and demanding price hikes for KG D-6 Gas exploration if one becomes topper in the list of Riches people also has no respect in the eyes of common man. Instead of this he must disclose how much he spent on social welfare of millions of poor and down troden people of this country.
